China's car industry goes high tech at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show

The 2022 Shanghai Motor Show is the world’s largest automotive show. It may be the only auto show for this year. #China has mandated that 25% of all cars are to be electric vehicles by 2025. Manufacturers are launching many new vehicles for China and the world. However, a global shortage of semiconductors and rubber, globally, will have an impact on automakers. China is the world’s biggest car market. The #Shanghai Motor Show has a heavy emphasis on electrified vehicles and offers plenty of conventionally powered models too.

The car ... in its current ICE configuration ... gives freedom to its owner ... and saves time for her/him. The electric car has a major problem ... besides the infamous range anxiety (which is a major one): the charging. Because ... when we see an advertising for an electric car ... we see an EV plugged at the electric socket ... on the wall of a house ... or of a house's garage ... charging over night. But what about the others ... who live in apartments (and they are the majority) ? Where do they charge their EV's batteries ? And ... more important ... when ? 🤔

Most of us lease our daily drivers anyways. Once subscription services become competitive price-wise there will be no competition, Chinese brands will win.

Batteries, batteries, batteries. Car companies seem hell bent on battery electric cars. And consumers are buy them, falsely, believing they’re “saving the planet”. I appreciate you pointing out the biggest problem being the over taxed electric grid especially here in Texas. When the grid breaks down we’re all S.O.L! And politicians in America don’t want to talk about it because they’ve invested millions in renewables. I’m sticking with gasoline powered internal combustion until something resembling sanity is restored.
