My dad gave me that exact same speech, when mom wasn't looking, at baseball camp. I learned a lot about life from that first camp.

Yep! Will never forget the pep talk my dad gave me when I was scared of an upcoming football game because the guy I was supposed to tackle was huge: “it’s not the size of a man but the size of his heart that matters! He puts his pants legs on once at a time exactly like you!”

Had 15 tackles that game and some nasty TFL’s. Thanks dad!

A mom would hug and tell him that his feelings are important. A man says you have feelings, but a job needs to take place first, and we can talk about the results later. Nurturing is good for so long, and then it becomes counterproductive.

Ugh! I wish I had a dad like that! My dad was so critical with my sport that I didn’t try anymore. It wasn’t until I tried again in college that he said he only cared that I had a good time and he was sorry if he ever made me feel like it wasn’t fun anymore in high school 😭
