SENA 20s 20s EVO 30k Connection Corrosion - Today I had a complete audio failure of my SENA 20s to GP10 with audio that sounded like a broken mic connection. I just got back from a long trip and corrosion had set in on the base unit pins and com unit pads. BEWARE do NOT clean the pins with alcohol, it dissolves the rubber gasket instantly. Ask me how I know.

The best thing to do is to lightly sand the plates with some very fine high grit sandpaper until the corrosion is gone and then apply a very small amount of dielectric grease to prevent further corrosion.

New Sena 20S Evo. Hot Seat does not connect securely. I have to press and hold it to get audio to connect. Is there a way to tighten the connection to the headset?

I’ve heard of lots of Senas failing from getting wet while riding which is why I didn’t get a Sena.

I have also been having audio issues with my 20s. The issue I'm having is not with the music/voices sounding garbled but with my music cutting out. The Bluetooth remains connected and the playtime on the song is still running yet there is no audio. I have to skip to the next track, start the song over, or press play/pause on the unit a few times to get the audio to work. It happens often and is very frustrating when it does. It also happens with the radio. Audio cuts in and out but i have no solution for that other than shutting off the unit and turning it back on. I have owned and used this unit daily for about 3 years and I've been through a few downpours so there's that to consider. Think I'm going to pull the trigger on the 30k soon.

What would you suggest to clean the corrosion?

Very disappointed with the Sena 30k! Thing that bothered me a bit about the 30K is how you can not listen to music while using the bluetooth intercom

Based on the orientation of the 20S on your helmet, it looks like water sat in there for a little bit causing the corrosion. Maybe best habit would be to separate the two pieces whenever you ride through the rain and let them dry out over night. I always disconnect mine from the base to charge it which gives it time to dry. I've ridden through hard rains before and haven't seen that type of corrosion on my 20S. Looking forward to your review of the 30K...I'm thinking it's about time to buy another headset.

Dielectric grease on the connections should prevent this :)

Very Bad Design From SENA With the price for this unit it should have been A  100% water proof not water resistant.

Ok, just to balance the above. I have had my 20S for over 2 years, been in many torrebntial rain etc and never had to clean the pad or pins and they are fine. So these things are made for real world use but obviously some like TWO's get corrosion, BUT not all.

You have a 20s, wait for your 30k before "reviewing" it.
