As a fashion designer, a lot of fashion designers want women’s trends to slow down. Many designers love designing for women, but they love the slow-paced of men’s fashion.

things I'm tired of:
-fake pockets
-unnecessary/awkward cropping of *everything*
-inconsistent sizing across brands

Ive noticed mens knitwear is more likely to be 100% cotton whereas womens knitwear in the same shop is almost always a polyester blend

An added note when shopping in men’s: you can still get your clothes tailored. I overlooked this option for so long. When I found an affordable seamstress, the game changed entirely. Men’s clothing has deeper pockets, and better seams.

Not to mention the men’s jacket looks SO MUCH BETTER ON YOU.

T-shirts in the men's section: 10 bucks for 100% cotton
T-shirts in women's section: 40 bucks for polyester

Never understood why women’s “flannels” never kept me warm until I tried on a men’s one and realized what real flannel feels like 😅

As a woman, I would go shopping WAY less frequently if the clothes that are available to buy weren't all 100% polyester and were higher quality. Even higher prices do not guarantee better quality, it's all a mess and it's depressing.

The same reason why I prefer men’s jackets, hoodies, and graphic tees…they’re so much more durable and have better graphic designs.

Shopping in the women's section feels like being scammed into spending ridiculous amounts of money for plastic bags you would get for free at the checkout

All the flannels i own from the mens section are significantly stronger fabric with better structure, but the women’s ones are so thin you can see through them even in the darkest colors and they can’t hold their shape. They’re structured like blouses.

SO REAL THOUGH!!! I go straight to the mens section any time I'm looking for clothes

This pisses me off so much because while i generally try to buy fewer, higher quality items im also super feminine and my favorite color is pink so i never find anything i like in the mens section.

Im just out here trying to feel good about myself.. so now i just thrift for vintage because its the only way to find clothes that are quality

In passing, I've complained about the shit quality of women's clothing to my boyfriend before. He just shrugs and says "just buy real denim jeans and 100% cotton." Dude... I don't think you understand how difficult that is to find in women's fashion without spending an entire mortgage. Not to mention that I've got massive thighs and hips, and pure denim jeans are just not as practical for me. I truly think that a lot of men really don't understand how shitty our clothing situation is since all of their clothes are typically built to last. Ours are built to fall apart and require a replacement after a couple of months.

And yes, I've tried to shop in the men's section. I have some men's shirts that I adore. But the issue is that I'm a really curvy woman, and men's clothes are built for men's bodies (i.e. not very curvy at all). So a vast majority of the clothes in that section are ill-fitting and look/feel awful. Shirts that fit my waist will ride up because they're too small for my hips. They'll fit awkwardly because they weren't made with room for boobs. And pants are a complete lost cause, I don't even try anymore. That's a disaster.

Learning sewing, dressmaking and alteration skills is a game changer if you are able, becasue you can purchase men's clothing and adapt it to better fit you. You get cheaper and durable clothing which is always a win :D

the men's jacket is way cuter also

Being curvy is the worst because whenever I try to shop men’s wear it never fits right. And women’s clothing costs a lot for even halfway there quality.

This is also down to brands. Brands geared towards men tend to focus on durability and everyday clothing that can double as work attire. Women's clothing brands are all about tends and aesthetic, with no longevity. But some brands that aim towards unisex attire can be really good.

The "pink tax" is real. Real terrifying.
And you'll notice it everywhere, if you look.
Since men tend to be larger, their items would take more material to produce; so theoretically they should cost more.
But nope! The market knows how to influence the "need" for women to keep up with fashion, therefore increasing the frequency of their purchasing habit, all while marking up the very products that they'll be purchasing more often.

Someone else brought it up and I will too- SO MANY WOMENS CLOTHES are polyester.
Im allergic to it- mainly around the thighs and forearms, so jeans and sweaters are a must have from the mens' sections
