But that was a private venture, and this experiment is a government funded nasa experiment.

The Martian was a great book, realistically plausible for the most part. Looking forward to the movie.

The mars one expedition will be a good and smart leap for science but there is SO MUCH that can and may go wrong, they have to have the crew and all of the supplies survive re-entry and then they have to set up base camp and not only that but the constant high winds on mars will also make it very difficult.
