Why Apple's MagSafe for iPhone 13 will go VIRAL!

We've been using Apple's MagSafe technology for the iPhone 12 for the past 9 months, but is it good enough to allow the iPhone to DITCH the Lightning port? Let's talk about it..

MagSafe Accessories from our previous video ⬇️

In this video, I discuss my experience with Apple's MagSafe for the past 9 months and how it has impacted how I use my iPhone 12 compared to previous iPhones.

I then talk about both the upsides and the downsides of MagSafe, and things I wish Apple would improve with the 2nd-generation of MagSafe in the future.

I then discuss if it's gonna be possible for Apple to fully rely on MagSafe and ditch the Lightning port.

I like my MagSafe duo, but if I actually need to quickly need to get a lot of charge, I use the charging port. I really like that I can put the watch and phone on the same pad

MagSafe Charging is sweet, but my iPhone 12 Pro Max makes it through an entire day without even trying… even on the worst/most screen time days I’ve ever had. I abuse this thing and end up placing it on a 7.5w wireless charger at the end of the day. I keep the 15W charger in the kitchen for faster charging of other’s iPhone 12’s and at work in case I forget to charge at night/placement issues with the wireless unit at night (which is very rare). I’ve found that in a pinch, just plugging phones in to a dedicated 20W charger for 30 minutes will suffice for the remainder of the day for most iPhone 12 users. These devices last and last all day!

The limitation of Bluetooth bandwith causes the main problem of a portless iphone. For example, most CarPlays work only with cable.

MagSafe is a great idea and is nice! But it is just so inefficient. The heating problems, the slow charging, not strong enough magnets and the prices for MagSafe-related things are overpriced. I could easily see this being the future but most likely in 6-8 years' time since it is Apple.
Also, I feel like the Watts going down, in general, is unacceptable when you pay Apple so much for a 20w brick and it just keeps going down till it hits 5w LIKE WHAT THE HECK ??? Keep it at 20w as it should be till my damn phone is at

You guys make awesome posts and, as a tech geek myself, truly love the science you put behind your work! Thank you!

Magsafe is limited by physics. Wireless charging is way too ineficcient. Apple should just use the 3 dots connector of the iPad Pro, since both work by contact

I use the MagSafe to hold my iPhone into my shirt pocket so that it doesn’t accidentally fall out when I lean over. I have Velcro loops sewed into all of my shirt pockets (yes, I’m a nerd!), and I hacked up a MagSafe wallet into a Velcro-hook panel.

Anyway, the main reason why I reeeeally do *not* want Apple to get rid of the lightning port is that Bluetooth is not ideal. I want to be able to switch over to wired audio for really sensitive music.

I made my own MagSafe car charger/mount. I already had a couple Scosche magnetic mounts from my old phone so I just got a couple Just Wireless charging pucks from target $24.99 (they actually work better than the Anker one I had and registered as MagSafe on my 13 Pro) and I glued the magnetic plates to the pucks. Holds the phone great and charges at the same time

i own magsafe pug and apple magsafe battery pack and its soo damn good.. the slower charging is better for the battery and im in an area where the temperatures are damn high, 123*F ... so yeah my phone would die if i charge fast and the heat would kill the phone

As someone else noted, Apple should have made a Smart Connector for wireless charging. Instead of the large puck, it could have been a small cable with 3 pin SC end for charging.

Wireless Charging transfers electricity through a magnetic field, so generally speaking, the strength of the magnetic field determines the rate of energy transfer. MagSafe strengthens said field. Employing a case with additional magnets strengthens that field even further. I would like to see comparisons made with this in mind.

For me ?
They must update lightning data and charge speed
Or go to USB C

Which is the one you use in your Tesla? My model X doesn’t have wireless charging so I am interested!

My answer: *NO* . 😒 With the iPhone 12 supporting 20 W charging over USB-C to Lightning connection (I have a little 20 W Aukey USB-C charger), the Lightning connection is still more reliable and faster. In fact, even USB-A to Lightning charging over a 12 W/2.4 A connection is more reliable.
