We just got Apple's clear iPhone 12/Pro case and in this video, we're testing Apple's new MagSafe system on the new cases.

We also have Apple's new MagSafe charger, so we ended up examining the new Magnets inside of the case to see how well it holds.

The main question that we answer in this video is if it's worth spending $49 on one of Apple's MagSafe cases compared to a basic case!

Regardless of the brand, I always get a case that's fully sealed at the bottom for better protection (plus it looks better). After several years, Apple's silicone cases are now fully sealed!

Magsafe feels like it's solving something that is not an issue to begin with. If you need to charge while using your phone, just go with a wired charger?

Apple clear cases are the only ones I've ever bought that don't yellow.

Give it like a month or 2 case manufacturers are gonna redesign their cases with a hole/cut out in the center to fit the magsafe charger. Basically the cutouts on otterbox cases, but bigger. This is the quickest and cheapest way to keep functionality without have to invest more into magnets or thinning the cases to ensure compatibility.

Watching this 18 hours after dropping my iPhone 12 Pro in the clear Mag-Safe case on concrete from my pocket. It was only about 4 feet off the ground, but the bottom edge was heavily scratched and it has created two cracks, one across the bottom and another going up the side. Thinking about an Otterbox as it took care of my 11 for basically two years.

If you wanna use while charging wouldn't it be better to just plug the cable instead? Sort of defeats the purpose of wireless charging.

I bought Apple's clear case for 12 pro max and I was a bit skeptical about the ring at first but tbh this case looks and feels amazing in your hand! It makes it holding the pro max so much easier. It's really one of the nicest cases Apple has ever made imo.

Not gonna lie, bought this and already have cracking a few days later on the bottom ends and I don’t even take it off! And it only gets worse because now it slowly slips slightly off the screen near the bottom

It seems like they are reinventing the wheel. Why not justplug it in at that point when you attach it there is still a wire.

Cases that want to use magsafe will be more expensive and may restrict the variety of designs for cases. Early days yet.
I would like to see efficiency tests done between qi, magsafe and cord charging. And with magsafe comparisons, test done with magsafe cases and non-magsafe cases, and with various thickness of cases for both types.
