Thank you for all you shared in this video, Anna. It's good to know the struggle is real even for accomplished artists like yourself. Gives the rest of us some hope. 🙂

Very inspiring and a reminder that you can, indeed improve by plein air painting regularly. I love your work.

Super enjoyed this Anna. I’m in Door County WI painting some bays and lighthouses. You and Emily really got me interested in this. I bought a pleinair box and practiced around home and then took my watercolor outfit and we took vacation in the badlands of ND. I got a few pretty good paintings but seemed like I got worse and worse. I am learning and studying water painting but I love oil painting. So this trip I broke out my oils got a larger pleinair box and an pleinair painting and enjoying it so much. Oils are my relaxing enjoyment….. I love the magic of watercolor also but will practice more before I take it pleinair painting. Thank you!!!!

Such great advice and thank you for sharing. I live in Northern CA not far from Oregon and one time my family and I were camping and hiking on the lost coast. We were hanging out on a beach enjoying the sunshine and suddenly found ourselves surrounding by a herd of about 50 elk. Like you all we could do was sit there and quietly enjoy what was happening. We watched the dynamics of the herd, the young elk played in the waves, adults watching babies on the hillside….an experience we will never forget. And noooo I did not have a sketch book at the time.

Hello 👋 Anna, your paintings are great! Well executed— design, color, and detail. I like to paint en plein air, same as you, for the same reasons. Keep up the great work!!

Oh my. Your works are so great. I especially love your loose paintings/sketches of nature. They are so perfect and confident. I am a landscape watercolourist. My paragon right now is Andy Evansen.

So much invaluable advice! Love how you mention just focus on the shapes. It’s so cool to see all of your work throughout the years. I’m always so nervous to do plein air, just need to get out of my head about it!
