Patrick, good one. I once had a plein air workshop teacher who often said, "the world does not really need another painting, so have a good reason to do the painting you are doing". As you said, "why do I want to paint this scene in front of me", and it works in the studio too, but when outdoors there are a million things to paint in front of you and you have to choose one and try to get it done in two hours, if done plein air. You showed that very well. "The Painting" is not often the thing, but the feeling you get from it or the sense of place and other stuff like the warmth of the sun on the distant hills, the freshness and cleanliness of the water and the gentle breezes drifting across it. All that, and not a "geographically accurate" rendering depicting of the thing that combines to produce those feelings!! Anyway, folks just my "impressions" of painting landscapes, as it is well demonstrated by Patrick here.

I appreciate how you talk us through the painting and the decisions you are making. Additionally the “how to” paint steps like putting in the sky and brushstroke variation, value and color mixing. There are a lot of painting tutorials on YouTube, but the actual “how to” part is missing. Thank you and please keep posting!

It's a pleasure to see this type of content narrated in Spanish. I've started to see the option to choose between different audio tracks in the most recent content on various channels. I suppose it has to do with the range of tools that advances in artificial intelligence offer us. Thank you very much for considering it! It's a turning point in the consumption of multimedia content. As usual, admirable work.

Exactly what I was trying to understand, why certain very busy paintings convey less emotion and more weight, as they only represent drawing, shapes, colors and it seems to me that, the more details there are, the more they lose their naturalness, the more forced they become and without any emotion. For those who have always worked from photos, this freedom, this simplification, is difficult. It's something that you have to work a lot on, which is why the tip of working with small sizes and with works by great artists helps us to synthesize drawing, shapes, colors, lights, darks, masses of colors is very important.

Interesting to hear you talk about the higher mode of painting intuitively. Can you please go into greater depth on that in a future video?

Is there a castle or something out towards your left hand side on opposite side of the lake?

My word, that place looks like it has gems in every direction!

Hope you enjoyed Poland!

Hey Patrick. Got any tips for a studio artist wanting to try his skills at plein air? I'm not much of an alla prima style guy. Rather prefer to work with layers. Is plein air going to be a no-go?
