She waited through all the chaos and rejected him properly. And then he cried openly and got a hug from his bros. Absolutely perfect.

Tsubomi does (platonically) care about mob. She’s been keeping an eye out on him throughout the show (complimenting him on helping Emi, testing reigen with fake relationship questions to see if mob’s teacher is legit) and she waited through a freaking tornado because she realized how much it meant to him to get a chance to talk to her. Now that Mob has stopped putting her on a pedestal, hopefully they get a chance to actually become closer now (whether as friends or partners). People are mad that tsubomi rejected him, but the whole point of this finale is mob, who was previously motivated by the thought of tsubomi as his reason to improve himself, continues to try to improve even after she rejected him. It started off as being for tsubomi, but now it’s for himself. If you only want to become a better person to get a girl, then you’re not actually trying to self improve and you’ll backslide if the relationship ever falls apart

They hit the crying animation out of the park so hard in this show.

Something I think people who found this ending lacklustre seem to forget:
The main conflict of the show was never the big flashy fights or supernatural powers; it was Shigeo's conflict with his emotional state and powers, and Reigen's conflict with his ethics and morality.
Both these conflicts are explored throughout the series, and finally we get to see Reigen finally open up properly to Shigeo, and Shigeo is finally able to experience a strong emotion without it overwhelming his powers.

I liked how the title of this episode was called ‘Confession’. But it was never about Mob’s confession to Tsubomi. It was about Reigen’s confession to Mob that he was a fraud. That was what was important to him, and allowed him to grow as a person. It’s why Mob’s real confession took place off-screen, because that’s not what was important. It was about Mob learning to value himself as a person.

Seeing Mob cry so soon after being rejected made me so proud of him. He's struggled so much with being honest about his emotions and letting them out and here he just lets it all out. He's finally learned how to just feel without blowing up

That ending made me smile so much that i forgot it was the ENDING ending, now I’m sad.

Mob had such a great conclusion. Finally had the courage to confess to Tsubomi, got rejected (thankfully tbh), and continued to better himself for no other reason than to better himself. Wish I had this series when I was younger, would’ve helped me make some realizations much sooner. Also him finally showing his emotions rather than holding them in, felt so good to see.

He really is 100% himself now. No more suppressing emotions, and being unafraid to show how he feels. He's become the same as everyone else, with a talent for psychic powers. He is who he once was, and seeing him cry like this for the first time, openly, without it being the result of some emotional explosion, is really something that shows this. What a wonderful show this is.

This show literally taught middle school me how to be a respectful person and how to respect myself. Mob, you will be missed.

Everyone at this moment wanted to give him a hug. Such a good character and amazing anime!

I’m glad they didn’t end it in a way where he gets the girl. You don’t get to see a “She rejected him but thy remain platonic” relationship a lot.

It's a much more realistic ending than a lot of other anime have. People need time to develop a proper relationship and to learn who they truly are. You can't understand other people if you don't understand yourself.

Feel like the rejection scene is going over a lot of people's heads, beautiful ending.

This is not a show about a regular guy who learns to use his powers. It’s more like a set of powers that learns to be human. Absolutely beautiful. I’m gonna miss this show

They titled this all wrong; it’s “Kageyama Shigeo asks Tsubomi out” He is no longer Mob because that was just him keeping his emotions in check, he’s accepted himself as he truly is.

Honestly, she made the right choice. Not saying Mob wouldn't make a good boyfriend, he's a swell guy overall, but neither of them really knew each other. She knew about his powers, and he knew she liked them and didn't find them off-putting, but it felt as if neither really knew who each other were. Getting into a relationship with someone you know next to nothing about is not a good idea. So, now that they're actually talking to one another, if their relationship keeps developing, it could result in a romantic relationship further down the road. And seeing as Tsubomi actually waited for him despite everything going on, it tells me she respects him at the very least.

Took it like an absolute chad. He let it out and moved on and by the end he was actually able to speak to her frequently now without being nervous. Mob really is built different. One of the greatest anime protagonists I've seen in a long while.

the whole time I was hoping tsubomi rejected mob, because he held her on way too much of a pedestal to have a proper relationship. I'm happy they addressed this issue perfectly, that was a really good way to end the show
