Global Warming 'Scam' - Fox Host Grills Scientist

"On Wednesday, Fox & Friends' Brian Kilmeade spoke with Dr. Alex Berezow, a RealClearScience editor and author of Science Left Behind, about his take on the left's relationship with science.

"Scientists are great at doing science, but they're not necessarily great at proposing policy," he explained. "Whenever you consider policy implications, you are to consider things other than science, like economics or legal matters. And sometimes when scientists become politically active, it tends to turn off a lot of the public and it tends to undermine the scientific process."

Like, Kilmeade, offered, 'the whole global warming scam.'"*

Cenk Uygur analyzes Brian Kilmeade's thoughts on said "scam," and how Dr. Alex Berezow could not get behind it.

Haha, you just HAD to add the 'You'e a moron' bit at the end. Any chance of them thinking twice just got thrown out ;)

THANK YOU! I'm not even that far north (Washington state right now) and the weather is hotter and drier than it's ever been. Crazy hail storms, too (VERY odd where I live).

Holy cow. Your half-paragraph here makes TONS of sense! You should really convey this wealth of information to the climate scientists right away so they can correct the tens-of-thousands of pages of scientific research data they've collected over decades of work which seems to indicate the opposite! All our hopes go with you abolishtheincometax! I'm sure they'll appreciate hearing from someone who is so CLEARLY well studied on this issue.

To see why, consider that blanket that keeps you warm. If your skin feels cold, wrapping yourself in a blanket can make you warmer. Why? Because your body is generating heat, and that heat is escaping from your body into the environment. When you wrap yourself in a blanket, the loss of heat is reduced, some is retained at the surface of your body, and you warm up. You get warmer because the heat that your body is generating cannot escape as fast as before.

The "Press Esc to exit full screen" at the beginning of the clip is genius.

And what happens when something gets in the way of the radiative cooling? Things start to warm up.

So when you have a radiatively active gas scattering a percentage of the radiation back where it came from, it's going to warm things up. It doesn't matter if the gas is water (which rapidly precipitates out) or CO2 (which does not precipitate out), the effect is the same. We can even calculate and measure the difference in outgoing IR radiation in each of the bands, and it's not insignificant.

Im looking at a publication right here called Global Warming Primer by the National Center for Policy Analysis

Right on!!
It´s god damn "problematic" when scientists advise you to put your seatbelt on!?

Like what policies? What specific policy has been advocated by climate scientists that would do more harm than good? NOT to mention I have yet to see a scientists advocate for anything more than saying that something needs to be done. They aren't the ones that draft the policies, so they don't have to be economists, but the people who ARE economists can use the science they present to draft sound legislation as long as it achieves what the scientists say needs to be done. JOINT OPERATIONS.

The term attributed to the observation you are making is regression to mean. The effect of AGW (or GW in general if the question of anthropic cause is debatable) is an underlying increase in the mean temperature.

That "scientist" looked almost old enough to mow my yard.

And the fourth angel poured out his bowl onto the sun, and it was given to him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has authority over these plagues; and they did not repent to give Him glory.

This is worse than global warming, and you think man's going to blame man for this? How will the scientists be able to spin this thing off when it happens?

1) That is part of the 11 year solar cycle, not a long term trend like global warming.
2) Just because someone dislikes him enough to sue him does not make those people right.
3) That was the US only, and does not say they thought it was a long term trend. The publications did not, however, say there was an impending ice ace, look them up.
4) Atmospheric pressure differences do not make a change in temperature, since the atmosphere undergoes quasi-stable, adiabatic transitions.

No I don't work on the research side of the house, I'm more on the practical. I would ask what this has to do with it? By that criteria we would need to accept the word of anyone who publishes peer reviewed work. Could you reference the peer reviewed article which makes the claim you are advocating?

It's not the person but the peer reviewed work which gains credibility.

Come on, we're talking about politicians here. You know, the ones who ask "Why don't airplane windows roll down?"

correction: that last interglacial peroid
130 000 to 115 000 years ago was called the Eemian period (not the Eeocine). Temps were 8 deg C hotter, and the greenland ice sheet was only a few hundered meters thinner than present day, meaning that the ice sheet is more resistant to temp than originally thought. Its all in a recent article in the Nature journal. Also on wattsupwiththat.

I mean statistics as in X number of bad events in say year 2000 (or at least a year when we have very good satellite coverage - storm reports have increased when new satellites have been deployed as they miss fewer of them), and an increasing trend since then.

That heat wave didn't occur by chance. As I mentioned, there was a high pressure system called a blocking high that stops whether going through the blocked area which leads to higher temperatures. This is well established meteorology.

the fact that it hasn't snowed in my state for almost 9 years is making me lean towards global warming is real, also the fact that there are nowhere near as amany glaciers as there used to be.
