Very interesting points put forward by Manolis. AI might not be able to replace humans but it sure can eradicate us, which is all the more tragic cause we might get replaced by something that's actually worse in some regards to us.

AI won't replace all humans. Just the ones that can't be controlled

mythologising humaness is pointless I think. Is anyone expecting AI to be human? I don't think so. We're not talking about homo sapiens replacing neanderthal, we're talking about machines replacing soft tissue. It will be new. The variety of humaness may have fed evolution, but the insight of machines may send it on a new path, redefining the evolutionary process.

Actually I think that If an alien was to examine us, they would see how similar humans are to eachother and in many ways to the animal kingdom too. Physiologically and psychologically. Nuances for sure. But much the same in sooo many ways

If we were to change our record of time, would this so confuse AI as to disable them?

Wow, this discussion between Manolis Kellis and Lex Fridman is truly insightful! 🧠 It highlights the beauty of human diversity and complexity, as well as the fact that our evolutionary history sets us apart from AI. Our unique genetic variations, personal experiences, and emotional depth make us irreplaceable, even as AI continues to advance. 🌟👥 It's also fascinating to see how evolution has sped up, allowing for rapid development of traits and capabilities. This conversation really makes us appreciate the interconnectedness of all life on Earth and how we, as humans, are a product of billions of years of evolution. Let's embrace our uniqueness and work together towards a better future! 🌍💫 #HumanityMatters #EmbraceDiversity #Evolution

"you don't have an average human" Sir, you've simply never met enough average people. 80% of us are average. Bell curve basics.

I think we have to be aware that AI has beat the best champion chess players in the world. Just wasn't open knowledge game. the best plan wins. I don't believe world champion poker because there is a human element due to unknown elements. Ai can learn all we know quickly but then to learn new stuff.. some things won't be so easy. The number one thing is we got to stay on top and have a set of rules that cannot be broken anything at learns has to be told to us. Failsafe.
Fail-safe devices or systems are not meant to prevent accidents or failures from occurring. Instead, they are put in place for when things do go wrong. Fail-safes are built with the expectation that failure situations will eventually happen. They prevent unsafe consequences when failure does occur.
