I knew it!! I knew half the reason for these rigs was appearance. That's hilarious, I didn't realize fashion was such a big deal in cinematography hahaha. Great video guys, this series is very helpful.

@Maupert90 well no but like where I live switzerland, you go to a shop where you should find these type of things and you don't find any. like pvc piping... didn't find any. I found some metal rods... but thanks for cutting. and than trying to find somthing which will fit. what I meant was that in american they have a lot more choice. and mabye(as i saw from your profile) netherland has a bit more choice as well :)

nice show m8s, i like your 101 series in all.
but it would be cool if you would bring also a special for useful "low end" equipment view/show for hobby film makers, young ppl and starters without money or the will to spend much money right from the start (or generally). i mean cheap things like a Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C7 HD HDMI car monitor for DSRLs monitoring for some dollars or a cheap DYNASUN SOMITA FT2855 shoulder rig for example or tripods. you know what i mean.

keep up the good work :)

@sndvl1527 my guess is the one from cpm film tools which goes for about $750, but if you want a cheap one, you can always go on amazon.com

@Maupert90 yea but where I live we don't have so easy access to all these things...
that is one of the reasons I want to go to america haha

Getting a Nikon D5100 for HDSLR shooting because of the easy continuous automatic focus when tracking moving subjects, however will be using follow for films etc. As it has a vari-angle screen, do you think it would be able to pass the cage on the bulldog rig. Also the sound recording format on the camera is LPCM, is that a problem. Would an XLR adaptor for the mics make any difference to the sound quality. Thanks for your help!

@ShakeAndBakeGuy
check out indirailspro. Those are cheapest rigs you'll find that are decent quality.

would you recommend Genus Superior Follow Focus and their shoulder mount?
that seem to be the only brand available in my local stores :(

I agree with your reason for a rig as far as looking professional but
I feel you left your learning audience half informed. Yes you definitely want to
appear on set looking the part but I feel the primary purpose of a DSLR rig is
camera stability, and giving your DSLR all the components and feature of a big
shoulder mounted camera. It's extremely difficult to get a professional shot
with a bare DSLR and 2 hands

what was the name of the battery pack you wore using? It would be really awsome if someone would post a vid on here talking about them cuz I cant find ANY on the internet, lame :/
