Wow it’s crazy how 9 grand is considered a lot of money to spend on college in Europe whereas in the United States if someone got to pay 9 grand it would be a miracle!

The section on accommodation is really interesting!! I've done my undergraduate dissertation on student perceptions of accommodation and how it affects their well-being

Top tips for choosing a uni. Go for a city you feel comfortable living in and are excited about, and don't just look at the main uni e.g. Nottingham but look at the smaller unis in the same city, e.g. Nottingham tent which is just as good. Chose a course you're passionate about, not necessarily what you feel pressured or think you should do. Don't pick a uni just because your friends or partner is going there, you'll make so many amazing friends.
Also some tips for those going for housing for after 1st year, start looking as soon as you figure out who you want to live with, probably around nov/dec, so you can get the best house for the best deal. Don't just go for the closest to uni or the best looking, read the contacts and find the best deal so you're not overpaying. Landlords for student lettings can be really sketchy so do your research.

I lived in Pollock in first year and oh my yes the stereotype is correct haha! I made so many friends but you defo have to get past the aspect that a lot of people there went to private schools and are quite posh. I'm from Manchester and it was a shock being one of the only northerners!

Went to Edinburgh Uni - graduated in 2015. I liked the city a lot but I would have chosen differently if I had the chance. I was the only Scottish person on my course and everyone else was from very rich upper class English families - of course there is nothing wrong with that but a mix would have been nice. I felt like the odd one out and it made my experience quite isolating.

I'm from the US and its so interesting learning about how college/uni is different here versus in Europe!

I've just graduated from Edinburgh and had to move away due to the postgraduate course I'm doing not being available in Scotland, already counting down until I can move back! Pro tip: once you live in Edinburgh, don't leave because nowhere else compares
£475 for your flat is so good for Edinburgh standards wow I am jealous
Would also like to recommend warrender park cresent for first year accomodation and would also like to advise that the food in pollock is disgusting (had to stay there for a few nights when I worked at a summer school) love your videos x

the posh stereotype for Pollock is definitely true! my friend stayed there in 1st year and you literally couldn't pay me to live there after seeing and meeting the people... if you went to private/boarding school or grew up rich you'll love it, otherwise give it a miss imo 😬😬

Loved this video! Being a second year student at uni of edi, it’s interesting to hear other people’s perspective on life in Edinburgh 🥰 I’d definitely agree that the city is the best part of studying in Edinburgh though! x

Also, another point about student satisfaction being so low (coming from a recent graduate!) is the lack of contact hours for humanities subjects in your 3rd and 4th year! Edinburgh is a research-based university, so expect to be doing a lot of research, reading and writing in your own time - I went from basically having a 9-5 day in 1st and 2nd year to barely having 10 hours of teaching a week in 3rd and 4th :') Don't let that stop you from pestering your lecturers and tutors - they are more than happy to sit down with you and talk!

This video could not be more I’m going there next year to study history of art! And the tuition fees are amazing for someone coming from the US where schools are about $75, 000! I’m so excited thanks so much for the video ❤️❤️

I am a US student considering post-graduate studies at the Uni of Edinburgh in the Fall of '22. This was SUPER helpful in answering some of my questions. Esp. the student support and mental health portion. That is kinda huge for me. Thank you!!!
