The reason Haiti has no trees is ignorance and greed, the other two have no trees because of the climate they're in, big difference.

greenland actually has one forest! in the south there is the qinngua valley, where it gets just warm enough and has enough precipitation to sustain a small forest.

Iceland. Trees can grow but they chopped them all down centuries ago. They're working on some replanting now. But Greenland does have trees. The far south is quite green and in one valley there they have a natural forest. There's also a planted forest growing well and reproducing. The towns and villages at least as far north as Nuuk have some shrubs and small trees.

I was in the DR a couple years ago. They take that border seriously and don't want to be overrun by Haitians.

Oh my, Haiti. This is exactly where Zimbabwe is going. It's almost there and Zambia shall be the Dominican that will show that difference. Zimbabweans are chopping 🌳 trees like they are enemies that must be eradicated in Zimbabwe. It's so so sad . I don't know why the EMA ( Envirometal Management Authority) are sitting there doing nothing about it . All roads in the country has road side kitchens that sell food . The fire is by trees 🌳 that are being chopped everywhere

Haiti does not have "no trees", although it has indeed been stripped almost bare by deforestation. That said, a quick lookup shows that it is 162nd in terms of forest land (out of 215), there's about 94, 500 hectares of forest, most of which is now national parkland so it can't as easily be stripped (usually substance farming encroachment). That translates to over 233k acres, or roughly the area of Rainier Natl Park... Not a lot by any stretch, but higher than "none". Islands like Iceland, Bermuda, Aruba have less, as well as several African nations and several nations of the Middle East (they name one country, but it's closer to four)

It's so weird that these "factoid" videos keep popping up with info that is factually incorrect but sounds like it could be right. It's such a weird thing to make a video about when it's not even true and pretty easily refutable

In 1997 I went on a mission trip to Port au Prince to refurbish a girls orphanage there. In traveling to several third world countries, I often saw impoverished people. But the absolute volume of poverty there was staggering.
Often on the bus rides to and from the hotel to the orphanage, many of the women wept.

As a student in college 20 yesrs ago, my son had the same observation when returning from a school trip in the Dominican Republic and flying over Haiti.

With no functioning government and no economy, cutting down trees for fuel is not surprising.
