So interesting how AJ has created this brand for himself where people associate a speaker design with the actual person who designed it. Not only is he a great designer but he puts in the work to go out and sell the product. Giving all these interviews is not easy. Not only do I think he's a great designer but I really admire his work ethic.

They are fantastic. I kept going back to the MoFi room all three days of the show. Also the whole MoFi team are fantastic people.

Absolutely awesome..I love hearing him talk about speakers along with his thoughts and things he deals with. I always loved the paper woofers from the 70's 80's that my parents owned

Enjoyed listening to his demo of these today at CAF. It was also great meeting you in person, Randy. Cheers!

Outside of my price range, and too big for my room,
BUT it's always amazing to see a new Andrew Jones product!
It's not just a new speaker, he always changes the industry.
Hope to see your review Randy!

Thinking the old large Advent, 10 inch and tweeter that went low.

Andrew Jones digging in and going back 30+ years. I had whizzer paper cone speaker from Philips and they had the most beautiful sound ever. Not bass heavy but absolutely touches your heart & soul.

I use to work at an audio company in 1979 that tried to tackle defraction issues. Their tag line was "Minimum Defraction. Unboxed Sound". They were the only company that ever talked about the problem that I know of.

I don't live in that world of audio shows and the industry insiders, but if Andrew isn't the nicest, most thoughtful and generous guy in that business, I would be shocked.

Andrew Jones is my hero. Met him and talked with him on the phone multiple times, sometimes at rather great length. A nicer, more accomplished man, you couldn't meet. He answered all of my (boringly basic) questions, and he chuckled at my star struck nervousness. I'm blessed to have met him and learned from him. I'll always have a pair or two of his speakers in my collection. Thanks, Randy, for this OSSUM video!

Very cool stuff. It makes my heart happy that you're able to interview such a legend and hear about these new speakers.

Met Andrew many years ago when he first was designing speakers at Pioneer. Wonderful to see the progression of his work. Seems like no matter where he goes, he makes another wonderful product.

I am at the Capital Audio Fest as well and was given a chance to hear this speakers as well. They sounded FANTASTIC! They easily bested some speakers I have heard here that cost 5-10 times more. Might be a contender for the Cheap audio Speaker of the Year 😊

I remember when Andrew was designing speakers at Kef and TAD before he went to Pioneer audio. Andrew designed the most expensive Pioneer HIFI speakers of all time; the S-3EX and the S-1EX, starting at 10, 000 a pair and up. Who here remembers that? A beryllium-dome tweeter on one speaker and a ceramic dome tweeter on the other. Legendary speakers IMO.

Andrew Jones is a speaker designer genius. I find his statements about graphs are only a starting point, but listening is the end result is how he finally tunes. Which leads to a graph doesn't tell you the whole story.

I'm also happy for more people to be doing 10-inch drivers. Zu has had a rather successful time with 10-inch drivers, to say the least. It would be fun to see some of their products here on the channel, Randy. The Dirty Weekend 6 is still in the reasonable realm of "cheap", all things considered. And, BTW, all the people who read only measurements-driven reviews of Zu (I'm looking at you, ASR), and roundly criticize them as a result of it...simply haven't heard them in person. They're truly something special. Despite the graphs and charts. Despite the detractors with their pocket protectors and better-than-you attitudes. I've got my pair proudly placed in my listening room, along with the polar opposite speakers, the Magnepan LRS (also roundly criticized by the good folks at ASR). I love each of them for their unique approach of getting you closer to the music. Of eliciting an emotional response that I had heretofore not experienced. And what Zu lacks in the last ounce of detail and "air"...is easily remedied with some judicious adjustment with a Schiit Lokius. Again, thank you, Randy for that tip! Truly, my next speaker turned out to be an EQ instead. If you haven't tried one, you are MISSING OUT. Audiophile snobbery be damned!
OK. I'm done.

Paper is an incredibly adaptable cone material. There are different kinds of paper and other natural fibers that can be used, and then you can add resins, waterproofing treatments, and fill materials such as Kevlar, glass fiber, graphite powder, or mica flake to tune it for just the sound you want. I'm a fan of paper with about 20% mica flake fill, for improved hardness and sonic definition without quite getting into the harsh breakup one can get with too much kevlar or glass fiber in paper.
