Woah you are so underrated! This helped me out a lot, I used to over detail my builds with tons of slabs, stairs and fences because I didn't know how else to add more depth to my builds, now I know how to avoid that, and I will now start thinking more about my color pallete aswell, ty this made so much sense! :)

I have a hard time understanding what kind of palettes work well just by placing the blocks next to each other, so these kind of videos help a lot!

I'm currently planning on building a fairly large mansion on top of a beautiful mountain I found in my survival world, and since a border between Taiga and Dark Oak Forest goes through the top, I've decided on using spruce as base, and spruce logs and dark oak for detailing. Kinda leaning into oxidized copper for the roof (yeah I know that's a lot of mining), I think I've seen that with spruce and dark oak and IMO it worked well. Found a ton of clay in the caves below so I'd like to use bricks as a foundation (wanna keep the uneven terrain of the mountaintop and bring the ground floor of the mansion level with this), but I'm starting to think some gray foundation like a mix between different stone and andesite blocks would work better. Should I try out the bricks, or is that a doomed effort?
