#grassjelly is a black jelly dessert made from the plant 'Platostoma palustre' and is eaten all over Asia. My mom would make it for us kids in the summer, and since I haven't had it in ages I thought I would fix some up and put an Emmymade spin on things...so away we go! #giantboba

Oh, grass jelly! I used to eat grass jelly as a young kid quite a bit(mostly canned version, though sometimes my mother had the time to make it herself; but like emmy’s mother, usually had grass jelly as a quick fix haha). We made a syrup out of coconut milk, condensed milk, and a dash of water—delicious!

fun fact: when the banana flavouring we all know as tasting like artificial banana was created, it was made to mimic the most commonly eaten bananas of that time, which are not the bananas we eat today and the recipe for the flavouring just hasn't changed so to us nowadays we think of it as tasting different from actual bananas or artificial
