Another strange thing about cartoons is that when two or more people are fighting, a large cloud of dust will appear completely covering them unless their head and limbs poke out. And in reality, no cloud of dust will appear, even if two people are fighting in the world's sandiest pit.

The most likely reason for this might be to obscure the view of the characters getting injured so as to not traumatize the children.
