Why does the media talk about "leveling the playing field?"
What about the landlord whose retirement and life savings are being forfeited by tenants who don't pay? Why is the entire system now giving free legal, free rent, etc.
As a landlord with two rentals I have to pay taxes, insurance, mortgage, and many utilities required by the government including the tenant's water and garbage, I am in default on insurance and mortgage payments now.
Is it my fault the tenant can't pay? I am having to forgo medical needs as well as surviving on a fixed income that has been reduced by over 50 percent yet the tenant gets free legal aid that means I have to come up with funds to pay a lawyer as well.
Even playing field??? What a crock!

When this becomes law in the state I live in I will sell every one of my rental property. Landlords has to make a living also

Legal services are never free. Taxpayers will pay for that and rent rate will need to go up. Can Landlords get "free" representation as well?

I've been staying with my mom for years before she got sick. We had a verbal agreement. My sister gave me an eviction notice. She moved my mom out the house. The following week . The notice said, She's evictioning me so my mom can move back in. Is that legal?. It also said the compensation she was to pay me for moving is weaved for last months rent .. I never paid her rent .. I also have proof that she said she doesn't want me to pay rent she just wants me out ..

Have any of you people in the comments section ever try to fill out an application for rental assistance and wait to get approved, because if you did, you would see just how long it takes for you to go through the process and what proof you need to show and it's not a guarantee that you'll even be approved. Yes, there are plenty of tenants that will take advantage of both landlords and the system, but there are those who really need the help and ask for it but do not get it because of some bullshit technically. Go figure.
