See in America someone would figure out how to cut their hand off with that

This is like the 100th time I've seen a video of "the foreign person being introduced to the bread cutting machine".
Worst part is this time, it's German public service.

Honestly we just use a bread knife in the US. It’s more akin to a saw, and does a good job of slicing bread. Just be careful not to squish the bread while you’re cutting it, and most importantly, take your time. The EMTs don’t need to be called in for something that can be easily avoided. (But do so if you lack the means to mend any wounds you accumulate.) also slicing the bread at home means it will last longer.

Bread cutting machines are not new or exclusive to Germany lol

I've worked in American grocery stores that have them. They're a waste of time and add another thing employees have to worry about and maintain. This is why bread is generally sliced by the bakery staff before being bagged and put out for sale.

Stupid question - doesn't slicing bread kinda make it stale faster and compromise the freshness of nice bread?

Small town grocery store near me in America has one too

That’s the worst variation of the bread slicing machine. The best and safest ones have around 15-18 equally spaced wires that the bread sits on while the machine vibrates and the loaf passes through the wires all at once. Takes 10 seconds for an entire loaf.
