Early Sobriety

In early sobriety, there are a number of changes that we make in our lives. Those changes can be difficult at first, especially since most of us are resistant to change. However, that's what recovery is all about! Change!
Open yourself to the change, and it will change your life!
It's the single most important thing you can do for yourself!

1, 5 years sober. I haven't watched sobriety focused videos in a while but they were definitely part of my early journey. This one was in my recommended videos and I'm glad it was! The vibe that I got from it made my day, thank you :) and to everyone who is scrolling down here to read: Congratulations on being here, it means that you're taking the first step. Even if you aren't sober yet. Just having change on your mind can be quite powerful! Best of luck to all of you.

Great video Earl. I enjoy your channel very much. I actually use your video on awakening, as part of my morning meditation. I am in early recovery. I have had 9 months twice. Now I can’t seem to string 30 days together. I got right back on the horse. Not going to lie, I’m struggling. Everything you said in this video, I identify with. I did the hiding and going to the bar at a restaurant. I don’t know how to change my thinking and I know it’s my thinking. I want to be sober but I keep picking up. I’m going to meetings and working with my sponsor weekly. Ive even been drinking before and after meetings . Like who does that!? Thank you for doing this. I love on awakening and I use it everyday 😊

You look genuinely happy in recovery.
Plus the walks on the beach must be wonderful for recovery too.
Just imagine an AA meeting on the beach!!
God Bless.

Day 98 sober, on my own in 2025. This is the third time in my life I have tried to start the year with sobriety. I have been tempted many times, depressed about legal troubles, the collapsing stock market, my lack of relationships. I realize that drinking is not a solution. It only masks the pain I feel. For the first time in my life I went to a psychologist this year. For therapy. That plus a good friend to listen, without judgement, has helped. I tried religion but I am too smart and logical for my own good.
The big positive is better sleep and waking up without a hangover.
