Revolution. Independence. War. The American colonies have broken from Britain, but how will they govern themselves?

America: Wins independence through bloody revolution.
Brazil: Wins independence through bloody revolution.
Literally all of Latin America: Wins independence through bloody revolution.
Canada: Sits patiently until Britain lets it go.

Why did I find Rhode Island declaring itself an independent nation funny enough to laugh about?

Actually, it should be noted that the Americans understood the necessity of paying the taxes after the Seven Years' War, the problem that became a big issue was that Parliament did not allow the American Colonies to impose the taxes themselves to solve the problem, instead you just had a Parliament basically say: "Nope, you don't get a say in how much you should pay in the taxes." Translation: taxation without representation, which created the famous war cry, "No taxation without representation."

The British are mad at the Americans because of the high debts fighting the French

So the British decided to fight the Americans, and the French assisted the Americans and helped them beat the British

Assisting the Americans led to high debts for the French and sparked the French Revolution

the British tried to defeat the French during this time especially later when Napoleon was Emperor, and this rose to their debts

simply put, Britain tries to solve debt problems with even more debt

Really would love to see a series on Bismarck.

Edit: He was one of the greatest statesman ever, and I really find his lack of a series kind of a snub, to be honest.

I would love to see a series starting from 1809 to 1918 on how Finland gained independence. That series would prove the gaining independence is a long process. Historically, Finland became an independent nation in December 6th 1917 so ideally that could be Extra Credits series for next November or December.

The way I see it, the whole issue of state's rights vs national rights is one of the central conflicts throughout all of American history, even today, and is directly related to the whole debacle that was the Articles. It comes up several times in this very episode, with the various states repeatedly insisting that they'll be fine on their own and don't need an overseeing body to shackle them. I expect this issue will come up several more times before this series is over.
