I like how people are complaining when Nintendo is trying to do something new, yet they still complain about the "lack of innovation" in this console generation.

here's hoping the x1 is just a placeholder for the x2

Watching in 2019, what a sensation the Switch became.

Tegra X1? That'll be an almost two year old soc by the time the NX is released.. Surely something more up-to-date?

And guess what? It turned out to be true.

Would be really stupid of Nintendo to not use Pascal...

I can already hear ReviewTechUSA declaring this news as the final nail in the coffin for Nintendo and that they've already lost.

Thing is, Project Sonic 2017 is confirmed to be coming to the NX, so that leaves us with 2 possibilities:
1. NX has a similar spec to the current gen consoles.
2. It is less powerful than current gen consoles and the version of project sonic is a cut down version akin to the Wii/PS2 version of Sonic Unleashed.

Personally I think option 2 is more likely, because having a handheld with a built in screen that has specs on par with the current gen hardware is expensive, and Nintendo would most likely want it to be reasonably cheap, and Nintendo don't sell hardware for less than manufacturing cost, so they will want to have something that's cheap to build.

I really hope everyone still takes everything with a grain of salt. Everything we know of NX, as of yet, are rumors. Only thing we know is that its a "dedicated console" and that Breath of the Wild, Just Dance 2017 and Project Sonic 2017 are coming to the console.

I personally think it will be that new chip they will use or something. I really doubt they will not be close on pair with PS4 and Xbox One. Especially considering the new Sonic game is coming to those 2 AND NX!

Welp, a Nintendo NX console home/portable hybrid is good for if the price is right. I'm all support for portable system if it is powerful enough to handle great games, with good battery life.

The first Denver CPU cores had some issues with anything that was less than a straight line race. Meaning, where data was more spaghetti like it would have difficulty because the binary translator would choke up. So maybe the more standard Cortexes would be a better fit than the X2 with Denver 2. You can't perfectly linearize all the data in a game, things like physics will cause spaghetti like data situations.

I hope the base station adds power to it when plugged into a TV. The Tegra is great for handheld use and is already more powerful than the Wii U, but I still want more for a stationary. A second tegra in the base station for example.

They are literally resisting 3rd party support.

One thing's for sure. They had some great sources.

I cannot wait for more information about the next Switch, and what it will be capable of!

Considering the fact that you reported on a 720p screen, what can the device accomplish with this resolution? I would love to see another video on the Switch. For now, lets assume the Switch has a X1.

Why are people comparing this more to the PS4 and Xbox One? This is basically an upgrade to the 3ds not Wii U it's a handheld that turns into a console at home not the other way around. While I do hope it's the x2 you guys seem to think Nintendo goes for power more than software, If Nintendo manages to get the messaging right for this concept it could really change gaming and if not it'll end up EXACTLY like the Wii U
