This is definitely backed up by the pattern of bounty increases since it started increasing.

30 M x 3 and 1/3 = 100 M
100 M x 3 = 300 M
300 M + 100 M = 400 M

Now we go to the New World and reverse that pattern

400 M + 100 M = 500 M
500 M x 3 = 1.5 B
1.5 B x 3 and 1/3 = 5 B

(Also, this ties this bounty theory in with the general theory that the New World is inverting events of Paradise/East Blue)

I keep saying that Luffy will get somewhere between 4.8 billion to 5 billion. Oda always gives Luffy a higher bounty than his main opponent (which is Kaido). It only make sense, but ppl think I’m crazy.

I assume 5 billion bounty would classify Luffy as a "Great Pirate" like Newgate and Roger. That would then make him qualified to meet Shanks (who told Luffy to return the hat after becoming "Great" pirate) who propably will be in Elbaf like Morj suggested in the Shanks/Elbaf vid.
His bounty would likely pass Blackbeards at that point which would then make Blackbeard respect him and see him as an actual rival, thus leading those two eventually together.

Guys, Blackbeard won't stay on his 2.2B cus the last time we saw him he was on the move. So we can expect to hear some news from him soon and his bounty will also be a bit higher. After all he was going for something important.

Luffy's bounty will be almost the same as Shanks, also tripling the current bounty, at 4.5B. Now, symbolically, he will be on the same footing as Shanks. Which will be a hell of a moment during their reunion.

I’ll tell you something that’ll help that MAKES SENSE

Luffy’s Bounty does NOT depend on who he beats alone, as Morj said it’s also for the reader, BUT ALSO what makes Luffy’s bounty higher and higher is his speed (just a guess)

People aren’t just worried that he has the Gum Gum fruit or Shanks Straw Hat or that he broke into Govt. Facilities

His Strength alone does depict his base bounty (Logical), ATLEAST specifically after major arcs/wins (For the Reader), but the govt. would mainly add on top of that his rapid speed and growth

His bounty is higher than anyone he beats, and after major arcs and wins, their bounty’s go beyond, but the fact that someone who was stuck at a large bounty was defeated by someone with a weaker bounty after such a long time by some newbie, constantly leads the navy to assume he’s constantly out pacing big names, constantly growing and is constantly being underestimated

So they add tremendous amounts on his bounty for him taking down long sat thrones in a small period of time as a beginner

I’ve been thinking this for a while. It just makes so much sense. Kaido has a bounty of of over 4.6 billion berries, which is pretty close to 5 billion. He is one of if not the strongest living pirates or creatures in the world and Luffy is going to beat him this arc. On top of that it is pretty much guaranteed that Kaido has a red poneglyph hidden somewhere. So not only will Luffy be in the running for the strongest in the world but his crew will be one poneglyph away from laughtale, with one of the only people in the world capable of reading them. Not to mention Big Mom is probably going down this arc and the Straw Hats are likely to take a least a little bit of credit for that, even if they aren’t the ones to defeat her, due to their alliances. In addition, the world government may learn of the grand fleet and they will probably learn that Jinbe joined the crew as well. Yamato, the son of Kaido, is most likely going to join too and perhaps a few other new crew members as well. All these things together I think warrant Luffy’s bounty being pushed to 5 billion.

To summarize, his strength is going to be insane, only rivaled by the absolute strongest in the One piece world. He is going to be responsible for the fall of at least one (likely two) emperors of the sea, the number of known allies to Luffy will greatly increase and his crew will be only one poneglyph away from Laughtale with one of the only people capable of reading them. Luffy will finally be seen as a real contender to becoming the King of the Pirates. Maybe the number one contender.

Edit 8 months later: Honestly knowing what we know now I think Luffy could potentially get a higher bounty than Roger now after this arc. I don’t know if it will happen but I think it’s possible as Luffy has taken on a title that the world government may deem more dangerous than king of the pirates. Hell, even now they are prioritizing killing Luffy over dealing with Kaido and sacrificing their best agents to do so.
