you don't need to use the heat gun for a straight cut across the tile. score and snap.

Wow!! I was cutting VCT Wednesday...I replace VCT all the time in one my buildings...I got a heat gun but only used it in the winter...Not anymore...Thanks Vince!! Hope everything is well with you guys..😊

I install VCT a lot… not union, but i do it. I score and snap the tile - never had much an issue. For more intricate shapes I use a Milwaukee cordless oscillating tool with metal cutting blade. I only use heat guns when removing the old damaged tile so that it all comes out in big pieces. If you had to heat every cut on the job youd be there for weeks and would never work that particular contractor again lol also if your cutting some kinda circular cuts like you were showing, which I’ve rarely ever ran into… but if you are use a torch.

Great video Vince! I’d like to see your review of the harbor freight heat gun (current coupon for 8.99) vs the one you have. Just wondering if the HF version even heats up or would be worth buying for someone who would not use it very often.

Thanks for the tips! Heat does magic with VCT. I wouldn't waste my time heating a straight cut though. It takes about 2 seconds to score it with a knife and a straight edge and then to snap it.
