It's Audi vs BMW in our car comparison today. I'll be showing why Audi cars end up cheaper than most BMW cars and SUVs. There are many reasons, and this becomes a lot like a BMW vs Audi comparison review, but you can use this as an Audi review or a BMW review.

I purchased a 2014 audi A6 in 2016/2017 paid $22k for a $50k car. It had 53k miles. It now has 160k miles. I only changed the oil and had to replace two motor mounts, do a break job once at 80k miles. I still drive it 6 years later. It is a great car!

Still driving our 2008 A4 3.2 with 132k miles. Aside from brakes, tires, and 1 valve cover leak the car has been very dependable and exceptional in the snow.

Well, I have had a BMW, Merc and Audi, and of all three, Audi was the cheapest for it's service plan. My A7 is half the price of my c-class.

Ironically, I've been checking out the Audis, recently. The 2.5 turbo puts out a fairly good HP and I like the upholstery. Good information Mark!

I almost pulled the trigger on an Audi S3, but I ended up going for a 40th Anniversary Edition GTI (no markups!). It feels good to pay almost $25k less and get heated steering wheel in Canada 😂

well, as a small point:
in USA the 2.0 Q5 has 248-252 hp vs 248 hp BMW, and goes in 5.9 seconds to 60 vs BMW 6.2-6.3. But handling X3 probably is better, yes.

Most Audi’s are made in Mexico now, cheaper labor equals lower costs. But it doesn’t mean repair costs will be any lower. I don’t joke around when I say there is no work room in the engine bay of an Audi. Almost every repair on these things is an engine out job.

Y’all still falling for this??? Audi shares the majority of parts with Porsche. The MLB platform is a good place to start. Other than the 992 and current 718 products, Audi and Porsche shares their parts across the board of selections. Please stop the nonsense. Turning into the “Rev up your engine” show are we? The Macan is based on the older gen Q5 platform. The Cayenne and the Q7 share the same platform. The 4.0 liter, 3.0 liter, 2.9 and 2.0 liter turbo engines are shared with Porsche. VW doesn’t have 3.0, 4.0 or 2.9 engines in there catalog. Old talking points. I own and BMW and a Audi now . My BMW doesn’t have anywhere the quality compared to my Audi. The door sounds when I close them both let’s me know who has the quality. I’m done with this.

audi is the best value IMO. They've been pretty good the last 10-15 years in quality

I love all European cars for the driving dynamics; I only buy American or Japanese for trucks/SUV. Jag, BMW, Benz, Audi, Alfa doesn't matter a lot to me as they all have that Formula One dynamic excellence you only can get from European cars. Of the Germans, Audi has always been the design leader, BMW the sport leader, Benz the luxe leader. That is still true. Audi doesn't not currently make an ugly car; the Benz EQ stuff and the BMW pig snout?? 😅

Audi shares components and design cues with a Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini in S and RS variants. Those Rs and S models are build in Germany too.

What I like about Audi's is that they are much cheaper to maintain than the other Germans just because the compatibility of parts

2018 S4 got it for 27k . Been great, no issues just had to replace brakes . Regular maintenance schedule/ oil . Committed to getting a Q8 next .

The cost will level out in the Audi service center, while BMW's higher up-front cost gives you more opportunities to act pretentious until you need out-of-warranty service. (PSA: To really provide that air of pretention, be sure to pull your own copy of the Wall Street Journal out of that knock-off Louis Vuitton bag in the service dept waiting room).

Great video. I rather have a slower and reliable audi then expensive and unreliable fast, good looking BMW. The fact that Audi shares parts with VW means parts are more available and cheaper. VW and Audi engines are used in many cars, so if you need another engine you can always get it used for less money if you are thinking about keeping the car for a longer time audi is cheaper and more reliable 2015+.

Hit the nail on the head with the Audi sharing with VW...Porsche too. I once had a base Cayenne that was way cheaper than it looked to keep running because I'd use an indie VW mechanic who'd order parts with the Touareg SKUs. I had Porsche curb appeal at VW maintenance prices...Truck was actually cheaper than the Touareg too.

I had a friend with an A4 and he said it was very trouble free - although the model year he bought had the piston rings replaced under warranty for the high oil consumption issue. BMW design and engineering for the most part is overly complicated and more likely to go wrong . . . which costs you the consumer as they age and things fail.

I beg to differ cause Renault makes the diesel components for Mercedes and Audi makes component parts for Lamborghini and a few other companies make or use parts from other brands 🤔

If you keep your cars for only 2 or 3 years you'll buy the German brands if you like to hold on to your cars for a long time you get the Japanese brands
