I grew up in Northern Virginia near Washington, DC and attended college in California (Cal State, LA). The advantage of going far away from home for college is that it broadens your horizons. When you go away for college, it can also inspire others in your community where you grew up to see for themselves what else the world has to offer outside of what's familiar / comfortable.
