Today we are making some cadaverine from lysine. The yield is kind of crappy, but it is still nice and stinky :)

One thing I noticed is that your N-bromosuccinimide was very orange. NBS readily releases Bromine upon exposure to light so it must be kept in the dark. For reactions that uses the electrophilic properties of NBS, it is usually recommended to perform them in glassware wrapped in aluminium foil. To obtain pure NBS, you can recrystallise it very easily from 90°C water using 100ml of water for 10g of NBS.
