My brother passed away in 2004 with Cancer. He was only 28 at the time and this was his favourite song. He bought a guitar a couple of years prior and tried to learn but the battle was to strong. I learned the first part of this song and he would have me play it over and over again for him. After he passed He wanted me to have his guitar. Everytime I hear this song it brings back so many memories good and bad. I have to say this version is the best I have ever heard..

Rest in peace grandma, mom, and grandpa.. I love playing guitar to alleviate the sadness, but this is one of those difficult songs to play since it brings all my memories to the surface. I tremble every time I try to play it. I'm amazed at how Clapton could perform it live considering how personal it is to him. You have to have some level of disconnect from the emotional connection or else you won't be able to perform it. He's a legend for sharing this with others and showing that despite feeling alone in your loss, it's something that nearly everyone goes through and has to accept.

Love this song always makes me think of my daughter Shannon who sadly passed away in 2018 aged 19. Think of her everyday but i know one day i will be with her again. Just wish i could have just an hour with her just to tell her how much i really did love her. I just hope she is looking down on me and im doing her proud been strong. This was one of my favorite guitar tabs I bought in the early 90's along with lots of metallica, chilli peppers and a bunch of grunge from the time. It was an excellent song to learn but never mastered. Early 90's was a golden age of guitar, or more like the end of the golden age of guitar. Followed by a time where everyone just wanted to jump up and down to low skill high energy punk power chords and electronica big beats. Eric Clapton was the first of the MTV style unplugged shows during that time also. Great song and clean rendition Yoni. Awesome.
