Would love to see more of all those little specialist companies down lanes that do car parts and upholstery, soft tops Morris minor wood etc. they are a dying Breed and very British and reckon they should be highlighted. I suggest to add an extra precaution by having the buyer take a photo of their licence held by them, so you can match the licence to the person and make sure it’s the same person. Obviously fake licence can still be produced but any extra steps are worth it. Genuine people will not mind doing that. On the Turo platform this is security step that is implemented but not always applied

Mike, I have been about the trade probably longer than you, love the stuff you do on tv all be it sugar coated, but in this case you opened the business to be scammed. Rule of thumb, card terminal small deposit to secure vehicle, bacs, balance on completion. Its almost impossible to get a credit card terminal for motor sales, it is that way for a reason. Only chance you have is going into that grey area and employ agents to seek out the vehicle, is it worth it, probably not as the good old youtube royalties may offset the costs of the loss over time. Good luck with it and as the saying goes. “Every days a schoolday” especially in the motor trade 😊

I like to look for a car online. But I have always presented in person once I have selected a car I liked. I think it’s much more convenient and sensible to see the car for real(so to speak). Then possibly a rest drive, then if happy proceed. That’s just me I suppose.

You said in your last video that Barclays shouldn’t have taken the money back ………why shouldn’t they ……it wasn’t the bank customers fault and how would you feel if the tables were reversed ……..it was you payment process that allowed this to happen

Mike, we as a business never accept payment over the phone for goods that are being collected, always ask customers that are wanting to buy and collect to pay by backs, or get the money bank transferred, hope you get the car back, you also have the reg number of the car transport, he had to drop this car off somewhere,
