This is the most analytic approach to comic books I have ever seen! Fun to watch!

Good video, not sure if I'll ever check out comic books but you definitely just made them more interesting

Have you tried branching out into maybe some non-licensed stuff? There's a huge world of original comics out there

WOW! This is a good insight into something I never really grasped!

I like the idea of comic books, they're kinda like a "hidden" episode from the main series on TV. You learn things about the characters you wouldn't normally know. For example, back when I was 14-15 or so, I bought my first comic book (It's been the only one I read since then too.) but it was about Knuckles from the Sonic the Hedgehog series and that particular issue tells that he died and went to the afterlife. Something I knew nothing about from watching the TV series or playing the games.

Very good. I've been reading comic books off and on since 1977. Good introduction.

You should try some of the old European comic books. Asterix is my personal favorite.

I love comics as a whole; there's a lot of potential for visual storytelling, and some literary-level writing (Maus, for example). However, it annoys me that so much of the western (specifically American) comics industry is centered on one single genre: superhero stories. Not that they are bad, far from it, but there is so much more that can be explored which I have to specifically go looking for in order to find.

For me, comic book stores are like giant haystacks with precious golden silver needles strewn about. The only comic I've ever been truly interested in is Hellboy (it's phenominal. Some of the most original artwork in comics, minimalist storytelling, and very atmospheric) but occasionally you can find things you never thought you'd be into.

I noticed that in your lovely pie chart you gave 0% to the ATMOSPHERE. That is all about how the environment FEELS like, and how the characters FEEL about it.

Also, to convince people to read comics, show them NON-superhero comics. Many people don't even know those exist.

The fact that only 31% of words are necessary just opened my eyes to comic books. PS: I also love Futurama, so I'm tempted.

If each comic book is an individual story I'm okay with it but if it's part of a larger thing then I don't really like that because if you have like issue 32 then that's like having episode 32 of a TV show and how the heck are you supposed to watch that episode when you don't have all the previous episodes or any of the later episodes.

To make matters worse some of the compilation books I have found are compiling certain artists or they are compiling certain writers or whatever so you end up with like missing issues if say they were two different artists working on a single series of comics.

I only ever pick up comics if I know their individual stories otherwise I go for graphic novels or I make sure the compilation is every issue from a certain number to a certain number rather than like I said compiling an artist or writer or whatever.

I use my 1st gen iPad to read regular books in ePub format. It's a great eReader and since I only use it inside, mostly at night, I don't have to worry about the glare issues that prompted the creation of things like the Kindle / ePaper devices.

The iBookGuy That is a great take on the amount of dialog in a book, I never thought of it that way at all. I am in the same boat on comics I like a Batman, IronMan, or Spiderman story every now and then but the only ones I really followed were Star Wars. I would really recommend the Star Wars Legacy Series, it is completed so they are all available in trade copies. You can take it to computer talk by using comixology on your tablet. If you use Comixology be sure to stop by your local comicbook store and get thier ID code. This will enable you to put it in as your local store on the app and the Publishers actually pay the local stores a percentage based on your downloads. This means you can help out the local stores while still have the digital download experience.

This is why I use comic books to practice Chinese. The comic books use spoken chinese, which helps me to learn in a more focused way. I chat with chinese people often enough, but there is not enough variety to the practice.

Not a "story-line media" fan (basically Movies, TV Shows, Comic Books) despite being a nerd and a geek. However, I love all the Japanese stuff (Anime, Manga, etc.). I prefer the visual style much more in those. Great video.
