On August 13, 1990, a very fast-moving plane approaching from the north of the Red Sea was spotted by a US Navy missile cruiser. Three years ago, in 1987, an unknown aircraft, armed with missiles, hit the US Navy frigate USS Stark, so this couldn't be ignored. Two F-14 Tomcats over Saudi Arabia were closed to the unknown aircraft and asked for permission to intercept. They were given permission. When the F-14s reached the provided vector, they were happily surprised! They saw a Concorde. Everything was okay, so the F-14s turned back, with a photograph of a supersonic airliner.

The two Exocet Missile were fired by a Dassault Falcon 50 Business Jet not a Mirage F1 fighter as originally reported and certainly not an airliner as stated in the narration in this clip.
