Which AIRFORCE still has the F14 TOMCAT? #shorts

Did you know the Iranians are the last ones to have the F-14 Tomcat in their Airforce?
You have all seen the first Top Gun movie in which Tom Cruise fights off the bad guys in his Grumman F-14 Tomcat. Sadly the US retired the F-14 in 2006. Except for the ones in Iran. So in order to bring her back in the last Top Gun movie, they used visual effects for the flying scenes. The one used in the hangar shot was a museum piece borrowed from a museum in California. They restored enough of the hydraulic system to be able to raise and lower the canopy but had to tow it to show it "taxiing," as it didn't have any engines. They definitely made it work!
Now you know! Like and follow for more aviation facts every day.

*Iranian fighter pilots achieved what no one has ever achieved with their F-14 Tomcats:*

*Killing three Iraqi MiGs WITH A SINGLE ROCKET/AA MISSILE.*

*A world record.*

Tomcat was one of the nicest looking jet fighters.

That jet in a selfie with the wings folded back was probably the sexiest thing I've ever seen

We were able to win the Iran-Iraq war with the F14 fighter

Still say the Navy should have kept one squadron of Tomcats in each air wing until the Lightnings were available to replace them. Tomcats were a better dogfighter and at least 300 kts faster than the Hornet. Just couldn't carry the Hornet's ground attack ordinance capacity.

Phew, I thought you were going to say that they used the same international loan program that they used for the SU-57…

Not only do the Iranians own F-14's, they're directly responsible for the fact that NONE of the decommissioned US F-14's were allowed to retain any components other than the exterior skin and structure to hold the skin in shape. They didn't want any spare parts available to potentially be "redistributed" to Iran, who is desperate for spare parts to keep their planes flying.

Now it’s time once again to watch Kirk Douglas in “ The Final Countdown “ from 1980.

Thank you, Captain Joe, for this very interesting information. I wonder how the Iranians manage to keep their F-14s flying with no spare parts from the U.S. available? Someone must be still making those parts.

The day the tomcat was retired wasn't a sad day for Navy maintainers, though

Iranians loves Tom Cruise more than any other actors, since the first Top gun movie when i was in high school every young iranians who loves movies knew Tom Cruise, if Tom Cruise just asked, he could go to iran and play his movie as he wanted with a real flying f14😂😂😂

As an Iranian, we have to use it cuz after the revolution of 1979, the us stopped being friends with us
And stopped selling jets to us. But before that revolution, Shah made one of the largest air force army in the world.
and we cant buy planes from others cuz of the sanctions

DID YOU KNOW, the B2 Stealth bomber could have taken out the underground Nuke plant in Maverick II, WITH JUST ONE precisely guided GROUND PENETRATING BOMB. And, no loss of x2 F-18 Hornets, whilst the USAF bomber pilots stopped sipping coffee for a moment?

But, not much fun to make a movie about that!!!

Frankly, I was disappointed in the "Big" mission for a fighter aircraft to be attacking ground target...priginal Top Gun was great because of the "AIR-to-Air", plane-on- plane dog fighting....#2, should have been more about that stuff!!!

ReNaMe the movie - " TOP BOMBER"...

Joe, I didn't expect a fellow as traveled as you to pronounce it as I-ran. It's Iran, like Milan.
