What Nobody Tells You About Pitching Onto The Green

If you struggle with chip shots and pitch shots around the green it's because you have a chipping and pitching technique that is either too complicated or your trying to use the same technique for all shots.

In this video Danny Maude explains the difference between chipping and pitching and shows you exactly what technique to use and when.

Here's what you are going to learn

1. How you set-up to chipping and pitching is crucial for consistent strikes.
2. Really understand the bounce and exactly how to use it.
3. Use a chipping technique for chipping but a pitching technique for pitching

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.

I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.

We look at 3 things:

1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver

and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing

I watch every Saturday yet don't get overwhelmed with swing thoughts because you always keep it simple. More importantly, these tips work. Thanks again Danny.

Oh my God! Danny, you have just blown my mind. For the past few pitch 'n' putt sessions, I've really been wondering why, even on my good shots, I keep striking the ball so low on the club, not thinning, but on that fourth or fifth groove. Now you're telling me that's what I'm meant to be doing?! Wow, okay, that must be why when I really focus on the middle of the club, I end up with these really "scoopy" shots. Or digging the leading edge into the ground and getting a sort of punch-chip.

I haven't even watched the last few minutes, that zinger just stopped me in my tracks. Thanks again, Danny.

A club member reminded me not to look at too many coaches, as this can become confusing! You explain things better than most Danny cheers 🍻

Your pitching and chipping lessons have improved my short game so much. I have to adjust the club choice for distance, since I'm a lady, but now I'm always on the green or just off it. A huge improvement for me.

I was a power swinger and now I'm a calm swinger on to the green.

Another great video Danny. What I like is the simplicity of your lessons. Many golfers, including myself tend to worry how to play this type of shot, but your advice takes away the anxiety and enables me to play these chip shots with more confidence. Thank you once again.

You're a great teacher Danny.
"Calmness" - perfectly put.
A relatively gentle but still fully-committed swing. As per flop shots, for example.
Easier said than done of course! - especially under pressure...

Nice swing thoughts and practice tips. Love the “Calmness” thought. So many tend to get quick and jerky. Just think of Fred Couples or Ernie Els tempo…Also love the clip the turf drill. Great stuff.

On these kind of shots, too often I find myself taking a huge divot and of course, coming up short of the target. Your instruction gives me hope that I will correct this mistake, swing easier, hit the ball right on the club face and allow the motion to complete a good shot. Thanks Danny I’ll be teying this tomorrow on the coirse !

Enjoy how you always tell what club you have. So many instructors fail to mention which club they are using from the distance. Thanks Keep up the excellent work!

Great video. I’m decent at chipping and pitching and find feeling the shot works best for me. Another great example of your mantra of functional swing. Do what works for you. Overthinking messes us all up.

1.26 million views Danny!! Well done!!! It seems as though I’m not the only one who thinks you’re the best teacher (including great guy), on the internet!! Congratulations many times over. Loved this video too by the way, it really makes sense. I’ve struggled with this for years. Like I’ve said before, it’s too bad I couldn’t watch you 30 years ago.

Pitching from 50 to 80 yards is the biggest hole in my game. I'm looking looking for a pitch and one put to make par. Pitch and two puts is a rare success. Most common is to miss the green with the pitch, another stroke to get to the green from a really difficult chip or bunker shot plus two puts leaving with me yet another double bogie.

I've tried the clock system but the key issue I have is anxiety about uncertainty which leads to snatched shots or slow duffs. So everything you say in this video is a source of hope. Stop the mechanics and build the feel. Playing squash and badminton years ago, one of my point winning shots was the drop shot - all feel. So as you suggest I'll redevelop that lost skill for golf. Thanks for this reminder.

Thanks Danny, another great practical video. I was having issues with hitting my irons this week so I revisited one of your previous videos and hey presto problem solved. It’s like having access to a golfer’s reference library, amazing resource 🙏⛳️

Sometimes the best instructional videos are the ones that don't have a lot of instructions.... just like this one.
