I am grateful to have finally heard this song in 2024. I thought still of the night was peak whitesnake but this may rival it

The outro solo accompanied by the drumming is on point on of my favourites. I always turn the volume up as the song fades, to here as much of Johns solo as possible. Great song!

Without a doubt one of Whitesnake's greatest songs, the solos in it are in my top 5 of all time

The solo played by John at the end on this one to me is the best solo ever played in any song. The way it sounds like an engine switching down from gear to gear is spectacular. This song is criminally underrated

its a shame this song wasn't released with 87, it would've been massive. John's solos and Dave's voice are unreal on this one.

I'm proud to say I own the UK CD DDD quality copy of that. I must say It's my favorite song too David! I never got to see you preform it live but I wish I did when you came to Buffalo, NY.
I saw Whitesnake 2 times when you came to play in 87' hottest temperature in the Old Aud, 90° they had to open the doors to get lots of air, I sweat like a pig that night!
Then Tawney Came one other time, and KIX opened up and what a show with Steve Vai! Rudy Sarzo, The flying Dutchman Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell, and Tommy Aldridge!

This song is not just a love ballad, but a great epic of 6m 30s. And one of Sykes signature songs.

I'm 50 and heard this when I was 17..still looking..great lyrics n music..amazing that was 33 yrs ago..
I like the Sykes tribute to Gary Moore's 'End of the World' lick ( the decending open string pull-off thing..which he does in the Thin Lizzy Thunder n Lighting as well), and all his signature shred licks..
U know, after all the bad blood that Coverdale is apparently responsible for, I think it tells us that life isn't supposed to be perfect and forever after, and we need to appreciate it for what it is and/or was, at the time. I hate that Coverdale killed and ended the Sykes/Murray/Dunbar band to go with the MTV bandwagon, but being 50 now, I really don't give a flying F because they are human like any of us, and they had to do what they had to at the time, for better or for worse..
I feel fortunate that Sykes n Covey wrote n made this track, as well as all of the '87 songs..made my life a better place to be..
I woulda wanted a Sykes solo on Here I Go and Covey shoulda never had Vivian re-track the Gimme all your Love solo, and the Dan Huff Here I Go was meh(tho Dan IS an amazing producer n gtrist..) but now we kno..what NOT to do..

Yup. It is an incredible song. It got so overlooked.

As others have mentioned, the outro solo, with DC's over vocal and ad libbing is just rock magic. The whole song is just fantastic.

I prefer this to Is this love?.
Looking for Love is sensational.Dorothy & Sykesys voices suit each perfectly on this track.

David, this is my favourite Whitesnake song since 30 years! Since I know Whitesnake. The melody, your voice, your soulful interpretation and the epic guitar solos have made this song to one of my absolute favourites in all of music (except classical music).
