I love the craftsmanship and ingenuity you see in historical jewelry. Especially things like the brooch that converts into a hairpin or the posy holder that has a little built in stand. It’s the perfect fusion of practicality and whimsy.

The flower broach that moves and comes apart is almost my favorite. The beautiful necklace that is kinetic and resembling a piece of wheat or grain was just unbelievable. The movement of that piece just sets it apart from all the rest.

Of all the things that have appeared in these clips the only thing I have ever thought that I would want for myself is that bracelet with the Roman glass set in it at the end of the video. It's so beautiful and I could just stare at it thinking about the history of all the little fragments. Amazing thing.

One of the truly greatest aspects of this show, is when those without massive means find they have something of amazing value (it truly changes their lives). I can remember watching the USA version and there was this one particular woman, who clearly came from vast wealth - her time on that segment was like her speaking to appraiser in a "hurry up and tell me if this is worth anything" kind of way, only to then be like "oh, only that much" and then proceed to act like she was happy and wouldn't sell anything, when it was clearly written all over her face how she truly felt.

Fast forward to another segment where a woman found out she had an important art piece and broke down crying, knowing that it's sale is going to change her and her families lives forever. Truly appreciative of the fact that an ancestor lived an amazing life, was gifted that painting - they could sell up to a museum that would take care of the painting, allow them to see it and relay the story for generations to come while having benefited financially in a positive way (not someone already rich 20 times over that is ungrateful and would only on sell to the highest bidder on the private market).

I’m sad that once they hear the value of their pieces, the say they’ll never wear it again. That’s a shame. Unless it’s fragile, they should enjoy wearing it and then pass it on, gift it or sell it. But while they have it, wear it!

My mother in law is a retired archaeologist and I lovingly stare at pieces of Roman cloth that she's brought back from excavations. I feel the same way seeing this bracelet of Roman glass. I've never coveted diamonds but oh, how I would love to own that bracelet. Just to touch it once in a while and dream about it's history.

The beautiful diamond flower brooch has a name, it is called En Tremblant, as it trembles to pick up the light. The prices in this video are reflective of 90s and before. These days they would obviously be considerably more.
