I also history bound a mixed era wardrobe. What I try to do is keep all of my pieces within a complementary colour scheme, which makes them easier to mix and match. So fo me that is neutrals (white, black, grey and beige), with blues, greens, and blue greens in more jewels tones (I don’t do pastels of any colour). They’re the colours that I enjoy wearing the most.

I also construct each piece so that they can double as historically adequate costuming. I prefer all my skirts ankle length anyway, so it’s easy enough for me to do. Each era is made to be as accurate as I can get, so they work as costumes, but also usually working class, or toned down (or can be toned down) so they work as street wear.

That’s how I get the most out of my clothing, because I can’t afford to make both a daily wardrobe and a bunch of costumes. They all need to be able to do both.

Historybounding is not new, the clothing trades' explanation is "there is nothing new". It is lovely to see Lina having fun with clothes and including anyone, any shape and any era of clothing. Modern clothing seemed to have lost its' way and now we can have fun again. Thank you Lina

Thank you so much! This came right on time, as I've been wanting to delve into historybounding but didn't know how to go about it. This gave me some specific ideas of how to combine pieces I find interesting into outfits I can actually see myself wearing

Love this! I always love when you include illustrations in your videos - I really like your drawing style! And the waistline tip is such a good observation, I'm sure it really helps with making your outfits cohesive. I had never really thought about it, but it's something so glaringly obvious when you think about time periods that go together seamlessly. Great video!
