Medieval Historybounding: Designing a (Modern/Medieval) Capsule Wardrobe Based on Historical Fashion

preview_player
Показать описание
Historybounding: The practice of incorporating various degrees of historical inspiration into a modern wardrobe. Which combination of dress, sleeves, and color would you make?

Ok I figured it out.
Green Palette: Knight errant happens upon a chick in the forest. She's definitely either a dispossessed princess, or a witch. This is what she's wearing.
Blue Palette: Yes, she's a princess, but it's a very serious job and she has been trained in politics, economics, debate, and more. This is what she's wearing.

“A deeper and a lighter shade of each Hogwarts house” 🤣
Yes this is the correct name for the colour scheme.

I'd love to see all the Outlander combinations. They had some lovely dresses.

I'd love to see your takes on Viking clothing -- Viking as in historic early Norse, rather than the Viking TV show.

i've been really enjoying watching your capsule wardrobe design process! in this one, i wonder if you might have had some fun playing a bit with mixing in medieval menswear, so you'd have tunic and hose options (i love a leggings and dress outfit for any season.) I would have loved to have at least one longer dress too. and maybe the shift could have more modern use as a sundress or beach cover-up?

you give a lot of good ideas to play with. thanks for the inspiration!

I LOVE these history bounding capsule wardrobe videos! I like the idea of history bounding but thought I could never pull it off because it seemed to impractical for me. Why put all that time and money into an outfit I love but could never wear to work, where I spend the greatest part of every weekday? Visually seeing you create these capsules has made me realise I could actually pull off history bounding. Please keep these videos coming!

I like to see viking next.
What a good idea with detatchable sleeves! I have to make some! My medieval wardrobe (yes, I have one for medieval events and such, it's small, but it exists. Sometimes I toss around the idea of wearing some of it in every day life, but I have a hard time pairing it with other things.) consist mostly of long sleeved underdresses and overdresses without sleeves, and that´s how I combine it. But detatchable sleeves would give me much more options, but take a really small amount of fabric to make.

Love this series! It's incredibly creative, such a great blend of history and modern, and watching the digital artwork is very visually pleasing. I vote either for the next video, confident we will see both at some point anyway. :)

I'd absolutely love a Viking capsule wardrobe! This series has inspired me to work on Gallic (as in Gaul) costume designs!

I've got to say that I have found these design videos to be right at the intersection of my niche interests! I'm just starting the process of designing a historybounding wardrobe for myself and abstaining from buying more fast fashion (if you can even call some of the Walmart buys fashion), so the way that you have approached garment versatility and color scheme through drawings really gets me fired up to tackle my own set. Excited to watch more of your worldbuilding videos as well since I am also worldbuilding a setting for D&D.

While my focus isn't medieval, I do keep getting distracted by all the wonderful possibilities of SLEEVES. This video actually helped me externalize and re-examine. Thanks!
I also highly approve external and removable pockets. There's a lot of opportunity there.

So much inspiration once again! Isnt life just better with trimming? No? Just me? I vote viking, purely cause of the textures and roughness with would make interesting combos with all of the capsules so far...
