Not only the melody, but also the fact that most songs repeat themselves quite a bit as well which makes them easier to memorize.

The comparison is wrong. If your book has just one page and you read it like as many time as you have heard that song you will remember the book however I get your point, melody helps :)

You can also recite a page in a book, if it's for example written as a poem.

A song has a structure that repats many words and phrases, it is not the same, plus a song is more emotional in less time so its easy to remember.

I agree 💯, Muslim memorize whole quran by heart and recite it back with some rythem... Maybe that help remembering the whole thing

I can recite practically the entirety of the Tao Te Ching ( the book I read over a 50 times already) but I think is because I read it together with the audio version read by Wayne Dyer so it stick in my head a lot. I can also recite every EXO song even though they are in korean and I don't speak korean ( yet)

Thats a good point but not a good analogy, a song is not nearly long as a page and a song is the "whole book" a famous quote is closer

Well you've read the book ten times.The song I love I can sing ten times a day sometimes. So I mean, takes me about 10 years to read a book ten times. In that time span I've sang the song 2000 times.

No you memorize the song because it’s the whole song but the book has many pages and why would you memorize THAT specific page you would want memorize the entire book and that’s not the same as memorizing a song
