What do you think...should I do a heat test & test it with liquid metal?

My PS4 Pro doesn't make any sound at all!

But that just may be because I don't own one

I really like how they made the fan easily accessible to clean if needed.

Try to put the heatsink of the7200 in the 7100 to see if thats the secret of the new ps4 pro

I took apart my launch model Pro, applied better thermal paste, vacuumed dust that had accumulated on one side of the heatsink (not visible unless you take it apart), and it's now whisper quiet with even the most demanding of games.

My PS4 pro sounds like a jet taking off.

Dude. I just found your channel. Keep making videos. You're going to blow up. Don't give up. You have perfect videos. They are all filmed and edited very nicely. It's what will keep people watching the entire videos, and then the next ones.

Thank you for all of your hard work!!!

I got my brother the CUH-7200 and it came with a Delta fan... He doesn’t care however because he has a noise cancelling headset but I would just like to inform every one that even the 7200 Pros can come with Delta fans.

There’s a very simple reason. The fan just spins slower. This reduces noise (a lot) but causes the apu&heatsink to run hotter which is why the exhaust air is also noticeably hotter.

PS4: pro pretty quiet
PS4: slim basically no sound
Regular PS4: u live on a run way

There are 2 missing resistors in the upper left corner on the processor side of the motherboard on the 7200. I would assume that you are correct in that they found a way to make it significantly more efficient so it does not need to pump so much energy through the board that they decided they no longer needed to gate that power.

I swapped out the thermal grease for Arctic silver and it doesn't sound like a jet engine any more lol

I would do a heat test. I think they may have found an abundance of thermal head room so they revised the BIOS to slow the fan down.

I have the OG model..It was like a jet about to take off until i watched a disassembly video and did it myself..Changed the thermal paste, cleaned the heatsink and the fan and it is so quiet i can't even believe it so.

Watching all these repair videos it makes me feel like I can fix something on my own now lol 😂 no not really I’d probably make it worse...

According to digital foundry this model runs quieter at the cost of higher temps. Id prefer a louder console with a better lifespan imo.

It's the cutout holes, the new 72 series have less holes but more direct to where it's needed, as for 71 series has more holes so it loses the more direct effect. Works similar to a jet pump, if u was to have a jet pump with a big opening and one with smaller opening, the smaller opening would be more efficient, but it all depends on the power being fed too. Also more holes would cause a louder fan sound, as for less holes would be a bigger hiss sucking sound.

A slightly thicker heatsink on the older model gives the sink more thermal mass, but its surface area that's important to losing heat energy by forced (or non-forced) convection. So, both models have the same heatsink. I suspect the CPU/GPU are more efficient on the later model.

I have the white 7100 revision and it's very quiet. It does kick out some heat and occasionally gets a bit of faint coil whine with pro optimised games (pretty common and nothing to worry about)... But still very quiet compared to the launch Pro and earlier PS4 models. The biggest change for the 7200 revision is the power connector. The 2-pin kettle style connector on the 7000/7100 is not very secure and feels a bit wobbly/loose. The figure of 8 connector on the 7200 is a tighter fit and much more secure.

The MOSFETs / Chokes on the 72xx model have a better contact to their cooler because of the two extra screw mounts, one right next to them and one a little bit further above. 71xx doesn't have these.
