How to pick the right mountain bike saddle (seat). This is a question we get A LOT, there are endless saddle / seat options out there for your bicycle. Finding the right one for your build, bicycle, and preferences can be a bit tricky. We decided to take the guess work out of it and compiled a list of our favorite and top selling MTB saddles / seats. Although brands like Ergon and WTB have traditionally dominated the mountain bike saddle/seat market, we have seen smaller brands like Deity and SDG come to the table with top notch saddle/seat options as well.

In addition to laying out our favorite saddles/seats, we interview a few of the guys at the shop to get their personal saddle/seat choice and why. Finally, Jeff talks with Jonathan Lee to lay out a few strategies you can use when picking your next saddle/seat. If you suffer from a sore bum while riding, this episode is for you!

What saddle do you currently have on your bike?

Why do we call them "saddles" when they are attached to SEATposts inserted in SEATtubes supported by SEATstays... ? 🤔

I like my volt medium. It took me a few rides to get my riding position dialed on my new build, but the seat is spot on now.

I wonder if anyone has ever bought a Deity Speedtrap for a reason other than it matching their bike color.

damn, i guess that's why i wasn't comfortable when i sit and not jumping around. I needed a saddle all along and not just the drop post going up when needed 🤦‍♀️

Great information as always! Fact: The editing and interviews in these videos are more entertaining than any movie I've streamed all summer.

Damn. Great point about how often a rider rides. Building up muscle.

Deity Speedtrap! It came on my current bike and it both feels and looks better than other saddles I've tried.

I like a range of saddles that I have ridden, but the one saddle I have had in multiple bikes and works well for a wide range of riding styles and disciplines is the Charge Spoon saddle. I’ve had it on an all mountain/enduro bike and two freeride/park bikes and it’s strong, pretty, and comfy.

I'm still using a WTB Pure I took off a 2005 Kona Stinky on my aggressive hardtail. Thankfully it's in great condition because I mostly ride downhill and not very often. 15 years ago WTB saddles were not available in my country and I fell in love with it when I saw a Stinky at a bike shop. Lucky for me it was intended to be stripped for parts and the cockpit and saddle were still available.

glad i stuck to video past the silly answers portion - the last guy had more info than i've found in other casual internet searching. put together with your overview and suggestions on padding vs hours in saddle helps provide some sense and order for considering the features/benefits of choices available. great channel, great store and service to the sport :)

I have a WTB Volt on the hardtail, and a Crankbrothers Iodine on the full suspension. I find both very comfortable!

As a heavyweight rider it took me a bit to find the right seat, but now most of my bikes have the Selle Royal Respiro Athletic equipped. More cushion for the weight pushin down..

I got a memory foam saddle and it was the best decision I ever made. It completely gets rid of the need for a chamois. Comfort is king.

I ride a Fabric Scoop Radius Pro. I've done 6+ hour rides on it with no issues at all. It's worked out so well that I got the flatter road model with the same shape but less of a curve for my road bike.

WTB Pure. fell in love with it when I first got into MTB and I've run it ever since. I can loose more weight not having that extra beer then I would save with a lighter saddle and sacrificing comfort.
