Back when 40hp was not accessible to the masses, the continental seemed so powerful, not anymore ❤

Royal enfield has come a long way. Happy that their bikes are not boring like how they used to be.

Evaluated both and went ahead and booked a black Speed 400. Reasons:

1. That city tractability was unbelievably good compared to anything else in its class. The acceleration felt almost EV-like in the city, which is huge praise if you want to close gaps quickly in traffic. Guerrilla is up there too, but the Triumph was better for me.
2. Suspension- I hear what Rishaad is saying, and agree- but dialling preload up a couple of clicks on the rear helps settle it a bit more. Both sets of suspension are good, can't really go wrong with either.
3. Fuel tank and range- Triumph's marginally better mileage and larger tank helps during touring.
4. Looks- gotta say, I was quite smitten with the Guerrilla. Relegated this to a secondary requirement since both look quite nice in their own way.
5. Costs- Triumph was cheaper to buy, running costs in terms of spares, simplicity of the bike itself, tyre size availability etc seemed better.

Can't go wrong with either, but the Triumph just edged out the Guerrilla for me.

I test ridden both the bikes but the feel when you shift from 1st to 2nd in guerilla is amazing. This put a smile on your face. which is missing in triumph 400

RE needs to prioritize reliability. They have the potential to be a strong global contender.

I just feel triumph is more value for money mkre that the RE because I could happily move around in the city and in highway. I feel more connected and confident in triumph to ride than RE and it feels compact

I chose the Speed 400 1. Lighter by 9 kg 2. Bigger fuel tank, a full two litres more. 3. higher seat to foot peg distance= more comfort.

I just did a test drive of both of these bikes yesterday. And i felt Triumph had more engine heat emitting out of it than the RE. I was the first one to ride both the bikes that day.

I knew the winner before even I saw thumbnail. if these autocar guys gives a comparision review and if a royal field is in that comparison then there is no need to fully watch the video because result will be the royal Enfield turning out to be the winner. These fools if given chance may even say guerilla is better than Triumph scrambler 1200... Yeah I know we should love our country India is great and everything but shouldn't always white-wash indian products especially royal enfields .... reviews need to be unbiased, it has to be honest because at the end trust of consumers i.e viewers are important and as fellow Indians we should be truthful to each other. And it is not a shame to praise foreign products if they are deserving to be praised. Actually newer royal enfields are completely inspired from triumph. It's sad and also funny when some fools say triumph thruxton copied continental GT, when continental gt and interceptor are completely inspired from triumph Bonnevilles ..
India is my country and I love India...

Considering the on-road price of the top end of Guerrilla @ 3, 06, 000, Speed 400 @ 2, 70, 000 - Chennai, I do not see much on offer for the additional 36K, in fact, Speed offers traction control and a standard warranty of 5 Years. In contrast, RE offers only 3 Years of standard warranty. The quality of the powder-coated paint of Guerrilla will start to peel off in no time based on previous experiences. Triumph Speed 400 has unmatched quality in its segment, is very tractable for city riding, and has a refined engine with most of the minimum safety features, hence it is still a VFM 👍

Should've added similary priced Honda CB300R to the comparison aswell.

Yes!! I know it's just 300cc 35hp but the weight is around 150ish kg which makes it just as fast as these two if not more.

Has Autocar ever given a verdict against a Royal Enfield? According to Rishad all their motorycles seem to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Test driven both,
Can’t be compared,
X400 is far smooth than naya RE, though if road presence is criteria RE is better, x400 is sleek like a rx100 was and fit finish RE can’t match

Is engine vibration a far less important aspect than the look and feel of the bike 😅😢…. And the major problem is the chassis failure…. Whatever clarifications RE provides the new chassis is not build like a Gun… for me I would say these two aspects are the main things I would check my boxes on a highway ride… And when it comes to city ride Triumph is the far more better tractable bike and better responsive bike…. Even after all these aspects RE was picked for just the feel …. So I’m starting to doubt is Feel of the bike far greater than the overall package?
