telling people to reduce their energy when we have pensioners too scared to turn on their heating at anytime. absolute disgrace

Years of under investment in UK instead of net zero nonsense when will politicians wake up more gas storage

I’ve had to cut gas usage by 2/3 in order to afford heating. I have no doubt millions of others here have done the same. Yet despite a large percentage of this population being forced to reduce energy consumption… they want us to believe there is going to be a shortage. Right

So what happens when everybody’s switched to over electric vehicles and they’re all on charge over night ?

Something is not right. The UK has the following installed capacities.
Wind - 28 GW
Solar - 15 GW
Hydro - 1.7 GW
Pumped Hydro - 2.8 GW
Total - 47.5 GW

Maximum reported consumption in the video is 45.6 GW. Yes, that’s very close. Also we have to allow for maintenance and repair. Nuclear, coal and gas run at 95% across a year so for renewables we can expect 47.5 * 95% = 45 GW (rounded down.)

Clearly a slight shortfall. However, there is nuclear with 5.9 GW installed capacity giving 5.6 GW operating capacity.

Renewables + nuclear = 50.6 GW. That’s 10% excess above maximum demand.

Why is gas and coal being reported at 55%? Why are renewables and nuclear only 24%? Why is electricity being imported from France?

The UK has renewables + nuclear capacity to provide 110% of requirement at peak demand. The UK should be exporting electricity.

What’s the problem? What’s broken? When will it be fixed?

They will be paying us not to drive electric cars

And will they pre-pay us for our economising efforts?

So they can make people get smart meters and have even more control over our lives.

I precursor to taxing people directly from the bank for an individuals "carbon footprint"...

To get us used to them turning the power off when we've been naughty

So far this winter, I haven't had to touch the 250 Kg of Paraffin or 100 Kg of Butane and Propane emergency fuel stockpile for cooking or heating. Its also extremely mild for the middle of January at the moment at 8 degrees Celsius here in Dundee. Its the forthcoming food crisis hunger and starvation I am still constantly preparing for.

Now imagine when plentiful wind and solar farms kick in.

Ridiculous, Build more proper Power Stations instead of throwing money down the drain. We are heading for the dark ages FAST

Because by getting a smart meter that can turn up or turn down at your thermostat whenever they want without your permission.

Regarding to a national grid interview in another news report. The guy said it's not about energy crisis but working towards net zone. Lmao.

The real reason to cut demand
Is so they can maintain the grid which is creaking and has been neglected!!

England is energy dependant.
If it wasn't for Scotland and France it would fall apart.
