Walter Taylor Bridge Indooroopilly Brisbane RE-OPENED! The Sir Walter Taylor Bridge is a heritage-listed suspension bridge crossing the Brisbane River between Indooroopilly and Chelmer in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is shared by motor traffic and pedestrians and is the only habitable bridge in the Southern Hemisphere. Walter Taylor Bridge essential maintenance – Chelmer to Indooroopilly
The Walter Taylor Bridge maintenance works are complete, and the bridge will be reopened to traffic and pedestrians from approximately 7 pm Wednesday 25 September.

Council planned for these essential works to occur in September as it has more predictable weather conditions and was the ideal temperature for the curing of the epoxy used to repair the joints. Favourable weather and construction conditions have allowed the works to be completed early.
A crew of 50 strong council employees have worked on the bridge in rotating shifts 24 hours a day, where possible, to minimise the inconvenience to the local community.
The bridge’s roadway and footpath will be reopened from that time and all road and pedestrian detours, and traffic control will no longer be in place.
Coonan Street between Station Road, Indooroopilly and Wharf Street, Chelmer will also reopen.
