I’ve Been to Zimbabwe in 93’ and my cousin owned over 1000 acres of land. He put hundreds of locals to work/farm and then the government took all his land which lays doormen to this day. He move to South Africa and died after he took the Covid vac at age 64.

You left out a big part of why Zimbabwe failed and became a net importer with hyperinflation: They kicked out all the white people (and Indians) who knew how to farm and farm well. As well as manufacture things, maintain critical infrastructure etc. They had to import most of their food and goods because the kicked out the people adept at creating them. So all they had left was the money printer, hence hyperinflation.

You’ve honed in on a great talking-point Mark, imho. It bothers me that so many people in investment/economic spaces think they will somehow be the bright lights that trade their way out of this coming catastrophe. They won’t. You don’t swim your way away from the Titanic. The waters are far, far to turbulent for little people to manage. What you can do is identify the problem, commit to a solution that will keep you safe no matter what the eventuality, and focus on what matters. Crisis times are not times to swing for the fences, no matter what a handful of people in the history books tempt you to believe.
