Dodge Torque Converter Install

Curt shows how to install a Dodge diesel torque converter from Thor Converters with a Dodge 48RE Monster Transmission.

Start by adding fluid to the converter and greasing the torque converter hub, seals and shaft to ensure a smooth installation with out any cut seals. As you install it you will rotate it clockwise and listen for the clunks as it goes onto the shaft and pump gears.
Always double check your clearance after the install to make sure your torque converter is installed correctly.

As you raise your transmission to install into your vehicle, be sure that the torque converter remains fully installed to the transmission.

Curt takes apart a pump for a 48RE to show what can break and where the converter installs into.

Thank you for your knowledgable communication.
Have a 2005 3500 with a new transmission and tourque convert installed 600km. Broke the flex plate off, towed to the shop finding out the crank moves .040 length wise.
The shop is saying its my abuse that did it.
Seeing if a transmission expert would see the cause.

Pulled my old engine out with the torque converter still attached to the flexplate and engine that I did not unbolt before removing the engine itself. Does that mean I have ruined the spring in the transmission for the new torque converter to be installed? I have a new engine 4.7L H.O. to be installed in a 2003 Dodge Durango SXT with a 45RFE Transmission. Any tips would be great. Thanks in advance.

Is this going to be the same for the NAG1 transmission that Dodge/Chrysler uses?
