I love this game - but ironically, I played it during the worst time of my life lol. I was failing out of college, just broke up with my girlfriend, was about to lose my job - the only thing in my life that I enjoyed was this game. 15 years later, my life is much improved and in fact vastly better than I ever thought it could be. While most of my experience with this game came from the worst days of my life, I will always appreciate the small bit of pleasure and distraction it gave me during what was an otherwise miserable time in my life.

Oblivion will forever hold a deep and meaningful spot in my heart, as a poor illiterate boy from southern Missouri life was tough at times; there wasn't always money to go around but we always did the best we could. I remember I was 10 years old at the time, as an only child i was accustomed to being alone but that didn't stop me from being lonely most the time. One day i got to venture to my friend Kevins house and watched him play oblivion it amazed me the depth of the game and the lore, i however was unable to afford the game at the time. I remember nearly six months later my mother game home with a surprise for me, The news that my father had been cheating on her and he was moving his girlfriend in and we had to be moved out by the 1st which was Friday, my momma knew how hard i was going to take it and with her last 60 dollars to our name she bought me my own copy of oblivion to try and keep me happy and occupied while we were moving. Oblivion taught me how to be a man and how to be a hero to those who need you just like my mom was to me. sorry to get all in the feels lol listening to this really gets me going, ya know?.

There are so many comments about how Oblivion reminds us of good times or how it was a bright spot during tough times. Or how it reminds us of friends, loved ones, even pets that are no longer with us. It just goes to show just how magical and timeless Oblivion is ❤

Ahhhh….. back when they made quality video games. I always come back to this game every year. I can replay it over and over and never tire of it. I can still remember the day I picked it up from GameStop all those years ago. 😭

There is no comparison to this soundtrack for me. It was created at an unfortunate time for the composer, akin to a near death experience that helped shape the soundtrack to what it is today and then. Regardless of his controversies as a composer, the man had pure magic on his mind when creating this legitimately timeless soundtrack. I still listen to it when I’m down, and it’s helped me so much with my depression.

Only three years left and this game came out 20 years ago. Im still listening to its music multiple times a week...no other game can compare to this..

Back around the time this game came out. I had it on Xbox 360, and later got it on a potato of a laptop to mod it. I played it for years. Replayed the main story at least 100 times and probably put like 3k hours or more into the game. It was just so special, I honestly feel Skyrim didn't capture the same feeling this did, because I played this more than I did Skyrim. Even when modding both of them as well. Oblivion just hit in a more special way. And the soundtrack in this game is definitely better.

As the world situations have become more scarier and unstable I have started to play more and more video games and to live in a fantasy world, the reality will hit hard someday but for now I live in peace in a another magical place. I don't hate this world, I just hate what we are doing to it and to eachother.
