Hi Mel. I cured the problem by putting the pump in a 300ml pop bottle and pouring mould making silicone round it. When cured I removed the pop bottle and had a pump encased in about 10mm of silicone rubber. As simple and effective as it gets.

Hi Mel, personally I don’t think there’s any difference between the pumps. An added plus to my noisy fuel pump is that the Mrs hates the sound of it and refuses to come with me during cold weather so a clicking sound is a small price to pay for what would otherwise be a much louder and annoying noise in the background for the entire trip😂

I bought a Planar 'silent' pump for mine, and it really does make a big difference. Previously my wife couldn't sleep with the ticking, now you cannot hear it once the blower is spinning. It doubled the overall cost of the heater, but £200 still good value.

Picked up one myself and can attest to no difference. I can make it slightly quiter by altering the angle closer to vertical. It's still going back though

I love hearing the ticking noice, its reassuring to hear the ticking to show the CDH is working

I fitted an ultra quick pump and I think it's brilliant. Can't here it at during the night now

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. My pump hangs from a screw under the van with cable ties. TBH i only hear it when i first start the heater and it's reassuring to know it's working.

We have been running a Vevor chinese diesel heater in our camper for over 3 years, we have been considering a 'quiet pump' but having seen this, it seems they are louder than the standard pump, also notice you running red in your heater, surprised you dont run Kerosene / heating oil as at 70p a litre its a bargain compared to diesel with the same heat output, we have put over 700l through our heater without even changing a filter let alone servicing the heater. very good heaters for the money.

I used a section of bike inner tube, each end of the pump placed through holes I made and then suspended from van floor with a bolt, works well and is quiet. Or just buy the chinese rubber pump hanger if dont mind wait for postage 👍🏻

Sat here shaking my head, my ultra quiet pump arrived today, and then I found your video showing it is a little quieter but not ultra silent as I thought. Ah, well, I've got it now

I've still got the original, noisy as hell pump, and the tick tick used to drive me crazy. I've used flag pole bungees to suspend it between two points and it can't be heard inside the van with the bungees absorbing the solenoid pulse.

I have used one of these for a few months now. I keep it outside my house in a purpose built timber box. The only noise from these is similar to a watch ticking, no louder, and only when I take the lid off the box. Not a sound when box is closed

There's a British electronic engineer called James Browning Smith who makes SILENT diesel heater pumps to order. I bought one from him and I can testify that it is much quieter than any of these claimed 'ultra quiet' pulse/clicky type pumps. He includes an LED on the pump that flashes so that you actually know it's running. He also does an IP rated one for external mounting, though it's really not necessary - I have mine installed in a cupboard inside the van and with the cupboard door closed you can't hear it at all. Zip nada zilch.

They are pricy, but if you use the heater often while sleeping, it's well worth it. He also gives excellent customer support.

Hi Mel. I suspended my pump under the chassis with cable ties and then wrapped the pump with an obscene amount of butyl tape I had left over from the build. Having a fixed connection to the chassis resonates

Only problem was is that the mot chap wasn’t happy with a swinging item under the chassis.

There's adhesive sound deadening foam stuff used in car audio etc. Dynomat is one well known brand. But many different products and types. Some have had success with pipe insulation and pool noodles. There's also 2 part silicone mold making products available in hobby stores. Mix to a clay and form it around.

I bought this a couple of months back Mel. It’s brilliant and after a couple of days it went even quieter.

I’ve got my pump free floating, it makes a lot less noise when it it isn’t held in position, try suspending the pump by the top fuel hose, a few inches away from the pump body.

The upgrade has a higher pitch which would be more annoying but if it were under the van it wouldn’t be noticeable another great video mate
