Moza has two optional accessories for the ES Rim, a Formula Mod and a 12 Inch Round Mod. I take a look at them and see if they do the job!

Both wheel mods were provided free of charge by Moza for review, the links below are affiliate links.

Clear and concise. Also note that when turning, mass is not the thing to pay attention to; it's the moment of inertia. Since the 12in wheel is larger in diameter, its mass is located further outward, meaning its moment of inertia is increased. It might be the case that since the larger rim is also lighter, the moment of inertia of both rims could be similar.

I got the Formula Mod alongside my R5 bundle, and I swapped it out immediately and haven't looked back. In my eyes, it gives the R5 the performance you *wouldn't* expect out of a 5nm base. There have been times when I've been whacked by the wheel because I wasn't anticipating the sheer speed of the wheel spinning, and the fidelity you get from having such a small and light wheel is incredible.

Great video! I just got the 12", fantastic upgrade. Use it without the paddle extensions, great. But I noticed they use one leather piece now so that overlap is no more! Great of Moza to adjust this. Maybe because of your video, thanks for pointing that out!

I love my 12" round wheel. Works really well.

Can we take a second to appreciate how moza uses a six bolt star pattern leading to us being able to easily use custom wheels

good video but you did say they didnt provide a pit limiter sticker but i doubt there is any need since there is literally a button with the letters PL on them

I think I am gonna give this a go. I just recently got the R5, and I do really like the FFB on it, I just hate the wheel itself. I do mostly oval NASCAR races and I feel that the smaller wheel base makes it allot easier to overreact and oversteer the car. I wanna get a larger wheel base that is more realistic to the car. And I feel like the F1 wheel makes road racing allot easier to do quick right turning. I was beginning to regret that I didn’t go with Fanatec until I saw this mod was possible.

Ive just ordered the R9 along with the CS V2. I quite fancy getting an ES with the formula mod as a second wheel as Im quite partial to a few laps on F1 23

do you loose any fidelity with the larger wheel? I saw another YT talking about this given the larger size/weight.

You should add a closed caption for the material, it's made of aluminium not steel, hense the lightweight.

Nice and clear review!

Would you say it may be worth it to buy a second ES wheel + Formula Mod, if one has an R5 and wanted to play both circuit racing games (formula, GT, endurance, etc.) and rally games, plus the likes of Euro Truck Simulator?

One would buy the second ES to simply avoid having to disassemble and reassemble the wheel each time, harnessing the QR-system instead.

Or would it be better to buy just the Formula mod and put the rest of the money towards an RS-wheel, rather than a second ES-wheel, even though the latter is much cheaper?

I’ve gathered from other reviews that the RS-wheel is a tad too heavy for the R5, requiring the torque of the R9 or higher, to get a better experience.

Therefore the RS, plus the far more expensive (but otherwise more suited to the R5’s output) formula/GT wheels, seem like a less cost-effective wheel add-ons than a second ES with a different rim.

However, I’m curious to see where you stand on that.

Good video. Well done buddy. I was wondering about the 12-inch rim...and you answered my question. So in my opinion not really worth it.
Thanks!

i am looking to get into sim racing now, should I go for G923 or straight go to direct drive like Moza R5? The price is around $120 USD different in my country (Malaysia)

And so if I need both a formula and a round wheel, think I should buy two ES? Or is it ok to unscrew the formula to screw the round one when I need so?

Is the price difference between the CS and the ES steering wheels worth the extra or should I just go for the cheaper ES rim?

The Moza being not console compatible, wonder why buttons are labelled A, B, X and Y :)

Could you please measure the bolt pattern please. I have a 70mm wheel in this bolt pattern and would prefer to buy this wheel setup over just the quick release which is very closely priced in my Country.

Mate.
....Your volume is way too low. I don't like having to max my phone volume out just for your videos.
